PJ Harvey won the Mercury music prize again last night, the only artist to have won it twice.
PJ Harvey has won the Mercury Prize for the second time in her career with Let England Shake.
The singer is the first artist to ever be given the award twice.
Her album Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea won a decade ago in 2001.

Well, she has no place being added to this thread as being one of the greatest lead singers of all time.
Yes, a talented songwriter composer but based upon what I have heard a run of the mill singer.
Sorry for that mate and especially as she is British but I must call it as I hear it.
Yeah we know, you're more Jennifer Rush type of guy... but I won't hold that against you.
The Mercury awards are for British artists and the fact that PJ Harvey has won it twice now in 10 years does show that she is very talented, but also that her talent outshines the competition because of a lack of creativity and raw talent in the music industry as a whole.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
You have never heard of Susan Boyle? Great talent.Originally Posted by Neo
Hardly a great as she's only 17/18..... Taylor Momsen, but worth a listen:
More like my generation mate. In fact I think I'm older than her.Originally Posted by Neo

Hahaha one of your favorites... you like the the blind lezza look then!?
Here's a very talented singer, she won the Hungarian version of pop idol.. so pretty much unknown outside of the country, but an amazing voice and choice of music for a young girl. Magdolna Rúzsa, watch the first video at least, this was the initial pop idol audition, she went on to win, she comes in around 1:30...
Check this out.. she sings it live better than Page..
Uhmm yes Plant.. of course. Cheers.
Nowt wrong with young ladies prancing around in their underwear. Shame she'll be a fat laffer within 5 years.Originally Posted by Gerbil
I've always liked PJ Harvey. Seen her live a couple of times in the UK as well. I don't think she's the 'greatest lead singer.. all time' though. More of a real quality singer and songwriter; artist, etc. Talent like that isn't too common in the mainstream.
Anyone actually think that Highway To Hell was any good.....for me it was fucking garbage.

Dont think I can come up with an absolute favourite, I make up my mind then I think about some of the other offerings and I change my mind. Thats music I guess as there is a leading sound for every frame of mind.
Beth Gibbons... Portishead live at Roseland NYC, a truly memorable concert.
