Man arrested for carrying gun and ammo
A man has been arrested on firearms charges after police chased a pickup truck through Pattaya Klang in the early hours of January 22.
Pattaya police station received a report at 5 a.m. that a blue Nissan pickup with three passengers was parked at Soi 3 in front of the 93 Pub and that the men were believed armed.
Officers approached the vehicle with the object of conducting a search, but the truck pulled away at high speed. Some distance away the pickup stopped and two men got out and fled. Police caught one of them, identified as Poonkrit Taechanukroh, age 22. He had a .38 caliber handgun and one round of ammunition in his possession.
Police continued to follow the pickup until it reached Central Pattaya, when they stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Somchai Payaksan, age 20. There were no illegal objects in the car.
Learning the identity of the third man, who had escaped, police brought him in. He was identified as Chamnong Wichian, age 27. He handed over a 9mm pistol, but denied having a gun in his possession when he had been in the car. Police were unable to file any charges owing to lack of evidence, and Chamnong was released.

Youths shoot up laundry in gang dispute
A gang of youths shot at a laundry building and then used a knife to damage a motorcycle before fleeing.
Police were called out at 2:30 a.m. on January 23 to the Nok Laundry at Chatkaew Village where they found the windows had been broken by at least three shots from a .38 caliber weapon. The officers found one shell casing. They also found a bronze-black Yamaha Mio motorcycle that had been damaged with a knife.
From their investigations, police know that the youths were from Huay Yai. They had caused the damage because of a dispute with rivals. A witness took photographs of the young hoodlums, who had arrived by car and motorcycle. Police are now following enquiries.

Bullets expensive are they? Notice a common thread here; gun and two rounds, gun and one round. Just come from an evening of 'work' or are they (bullets) just that damn hard to come by? Maybe the cops are short of ammo?

American tourist stabbed and injured by bar girl, boyfriend

Chon Buri - A 44-year-old American tourist was assaulted and stabbed on Pattaya beach by a bar girl and who appeared to be her boyfriend early Saturday morning, police said.

Pol Maj Sirapop Sukkasi of Tambon Pattaya police station, said Tony Lindsey was severely injured during the attack at 2:30 am.

Lindsey suffered several knife wounds on his stomach, right side and right arm, Sirapop said. He was also hit at his face.

Sirapop quoted a witness as saying that he saw the American walking hand-in-hand from Soi 7 across the road to the beach.

While the two were sitting on the beach, a Thai man arrived at the scene on a motorcycle. The woman and man were then seen as assaulting the American with fists and knife before fleeing the scene on the motorcycle.
Sirapop said police had yet to interrogate Lindsey and police thought the woman might lure him to be robbed by her boyfriend at the beach.

American man fighting for his life after late night knife attack on Pattaya Beach.
A shocking case of a violent assault now from Soi 7 which has already made the national press here in Thailand. Police Major Sirapop from Pattaya Police Station was called to Pattaya Beach Road at the front of Soi 7 in the early hours of Saturday Morning to investigate an assault on an American tourist. The man, who was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital, was identified as Mr. Tony Lindsey aged 44 from America. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his groin, stomach and right arm. He is now in a critical but stable condition in hospital and is now undergoing emergency surgery. Witnesses mentioned seeing the man walk down Soi 7 towards the beachfront with a female, though to be a bar girl. A man approached on a motorbike and both the man and woman begun the vicious attack, which took place on the beach promenade. A Baht Bus driver, Khun Somkuan aged 45 saw the attack and took the badly injured man to hospital. The Thai man and woman fled on their Orange colored Yamaha Mio Motorbike. Police now have two theories regarding the attack. The first relates to the potential of a jealous attack from an ex-boyfriend of the bar girl and the second suggests the couple were working together and attacked the man in order to steal his possessions. The investigation continues.

Horrific knife attack in Sattahip leaves 17 year old man fighting for his life.
We thank our colleagues in Sattahip for this story. Police Lieutenant Colonel Anan from Sattahip Police Station was called to the front of a small Soi in Dowtan Village to investigate a horrific knife attack on a 17 year old man. At the scene, Khun Egashai was lying on the floor being comforted by friends. Rescue workers were attending to the man who had sustained a penetrating knife wound to his right chest. The long knife, thought to be 30 cms in length was still lodged inside his chest. Police attempted to gain some information from the injured man, who explained that the attack had taken place elsewhere and Khun Egashai did his best to leave the scene, but could not go any further and collapsed at this location. Unfortunately limited information about the attack was given by the injured man, however a man known as Khun Ord was mentioned by him and he is now being tracked down by officers who are attempting to find the attacker in this case.

Fatal shooting on the Sukumvit Road, thought to be drug-related.
A fatal shooting now from the Sukumvit Road, in front of Soi 60. Police Lieutenant Colonel Tailert from Dongtan Police sub-station was assigned to the case and begun his investigation at the crime scene. He inspected the victim’s bike and found 12 Yabba Tablets inside the bike which confirmed the suspicion that this may be a drug related shooting. Witnesses mentioned that two men on one motorbike were seen following the victim and the passenger then opened fire on the target four times, killing him at the scene. The dead man is Khun Roonaroong aged 31 whose body was taken to the Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital and was later transferred to the Morgue at Banglamung Hospital. Police are now hunting for the shooter but do not hold out much hope because of a lack of information regarding the two men.

The police attempt to interview the 17 year old, before he even receives medical attention. Sounds like they have their priorities backarsewards.

DD, It must be about a year since I last read this dead farang thread. Since then the incidences of violence seems to have increased dramatically. i think there used to be more farangs jumping / falling/ being pushed from rooftops etc: Now there seems to be more being openly attacked. They are not even being given the chance to get upstairs to jump!!!
I had , as you likely know, planned to stay there for 4 weeks this July. Eventually, I have been thinking of living there. I wonder ...do you think it would be safer in Jomtien rather than Pattaya itself? Though i'm fairly "worldly-wise" I don't think that on its own could stop a bullet.

Knife and Gun attack leaves young man with foot, hand and head injuries.
Police Sub-Lieutenant Nitipoom from Banglamung Police Station was called to the Banglamung Hospital late on Wednesday Night to investigate a Thai man who had been subject to a vicious knife and gun attack in Soi Nongprue. The victim is Khun Anusorn aged 27. He had sustained deep cuts to his head and hands and one gun shot wound to his foot. He explained that his younger brother had a disagreement with a local gang which required the assistance of his older brother, the victim in this attack, to clear the problem. Khun Anusorn arranged to meet one of the rival gang members in Soi Nongprue. However, the meeting was a trap and out of the darkness came seven men who conducted the assault on Khun Anusorn. Details including the name of the gang leader and descriptions of the gang members were provided and Police are now attempting to track them down.

In the early hours of Saturday Morning, Police Major Tailert from Dongtan Police sub-station in Jomtien received word of a shooting which had just taken place in Soi Dang Dum off the Tepprasit Road. Two men were injured in the shooting and had already been taken to Banglamung Hospital where Police spoke with the two victims, Khun Pongsagon aged 16 who was shot once in the left leg and once in his left hand, and Khun Wachara aged 20 who sustained shots to his right hand and right thigh. Both men were not seriously injured and were able to speak with Police about the evenings events. They mentioned that a gang of six friends were coming back home from the Pattaya Carnival when a group of about 20 motorbikes approached the group and opened fire. The motive behind the attack is unknown but Police tell us it relates to two rival gangs who have clashed in the past.

Thai Man beats his wife who is found dead 4 days later.
Police Sub-Lieutenant Choosak from Banglamung Police Station was called to house number 134 at the Poo Sai Village in Nong Pla Lai sub-district to investigate a possible murder. At the location, he inspected the body of Khun Lampuan aged 36. She had sustained multiple head injuries and had been dead for at least 10 hours before the discovery was made. The Mother of the dead woman mentioned that her daughter worked as a construction worker with her husband, Khun Somsak aged 42. She continued by saying that he would often drink heavily and the couple would always fight. This case begun 4 days ago when Khun Somsak brought his wife to this house which is owned by her mother and told her that they could not be together anymore. At this point, the victim was still alive but was badly injured. For some inexplicable reason, her mother decided not to take her daughter to hospital and she passed away during the night. Khun Somsak was located and arrested and later taken to Banglamung Police Station where he is now answering charges of murder.

Another vicious knife attack in Sattahip as Police close in on the perpetrators.
A shocking story now from our colleagues in Sattahip District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Bumroong from Sattahip Police Station was called to a small Soi in Bang Sarae sub-district where he examined the body of Khun Chinawit aged 17. He had sustained a penetrating knife wound to his right shoulder and the knife had passed through his chest, killing him on-the-spot. Connections were made with a previous knife attack, which we reported on two weeks ago where a man sustained a penetrating knife wound to his chest which luckily did not kill him. In this case, the knife used was of similar design. Police are now hunting for the gang and have arrest warrants for a number of individuals who they believe committed this murder and the previous knife attack from two weeks ago.

Bizarre late night incident on Pattaya Beach leaves everyone baffled.
A bizarre story now from Pattaya Beach Road which has left Police scratching their heads as they determine the cause of this late night incident. An unknown foreign man was discovered lying unconscious on Pattaya Beach, in front of Soi 13 at the south end of the beach. Next to his body was a tube of pepper spray. There was a distinct smell of alcohol on his breath and when he eventually woke up he complained of acute discomfort in his eyes. Nobody saw anything or was not prepared to talk and the victim was not in a fit state to speak about the incident. All that Police could do was to send the man to hospital and wait for him to sober-up. We can only theorize that he was attacked on the beach and robbed of everything and was chosen as a target because of his intoxicated state.

Female motorcyclist shot at in apparently motiveless attack.
A shooting now from Kow Mai Geow sub-district in Banglamung. The victim is a 23 year old female, Khun Ampai who works at a local factory. The shooting happened when she was driving along the road after collecting her brother from work. Two men on a motorbike approached from the rear and opened fire on the pair. A total of two shots were expelled, one hitting the woman and the other missing its target. At this point, the victim and her brother fell to the floor and Khun Ampai sustained a shot to her back. Both the victim and her brother could not offer Police a motive for the attack and further explained that they did not have any problems with anyone which would lead them to shoot at them. For now, Police theorize that the two were attempting to steal their motorbike but could not complete the theft because there were too many other drivers and pedestrians in the vicinity.
