Clinton to Obama: There's no nominee yet

MAYSVILLE, Ky. - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday said her opponent Barack Obama may be getting a little ahead of himself in acting like the party's nominee before the final contests of the primary season are over.

"You can declare yourself anything, but if you don't have the votes, it doesn't matter," Clinton said Monday in a satellite interview with an Oregon television station before a campaign appearance in Kentucky.

The former first lady trails Obama in the delegate count by such a margin that it is mathematically unlikely for her to overtake him in the remaining primaries, which end June 3 with Montana and South Dakota.
But both candidates have been angling to win over the party leaders and elected officials known as superdelegates, whose support will likely determine the nominee.

Clinton said Obama, who has refused to debate her since they last faced off just before the Pennsylvania primary last month, would "rather just talk to giant crowds than have questions asked."

Well, she and Billy boy must have a grand plan to sew up the VP slot through all this. That would be a terribly disappointing sell-out by Obama and may cause me to switch my support to McCain if he sells out like that.

That would be effectively a totally emasculated campaign by Obama caving into the Clintons. He would then live with the monkey on his back (Hilary), and the fox in the henhouse (Bill), in the White House for the next 4 years.

Emasculated and unable to effect leadership. Hardly a good follow up to the Bush fiasco.

Hillary wins big in Kentucky, Obama wins big in Oregon!!

Sounds like a draw but Obama has clinched majority of pledged delegates and now cannot be overtaken by Hillary. Expect to see uncommitted super delegates who have said they will support the candidate with the majority of pledged delegates go to Obama in the next week.

“The claws come out” – looks like the Dems might really end up a bit divided come November. If the super delegates over turn the popular vote they will also be over turning the black vote. IMO this will lead to a significantly reduced black voter turn out come Nov.

On the other hand if the super delegates do what most expect them to do and give the nod to Obama then it looks like they will diminish the lead they have had in the women’s vote.

The Kentucky exit polls have Hillary supports once again saying if she is not in the top spot for the blue team come November they will either vote for McCain or not vote at all:

Kentucky exit polls showed seven in 10 whites voted for Clinton. Only one-third of Clinton backers said they would vote for Obama, with another 40 percent defecting to McCain and the rest saying they would stay home.
