Things you must see and do in Thailand.

I'll put this here rather than in the questions sub-forum so that you may recount the best things in Thailand you've see or done, things that are unique or fun, but most of all memorable, so that if you are only in Thailand once or never return again you can say to yourself you were glad you went.

Okay, that's memorable but hardly unique to Thailand.

How about something outside the bedroom.

I don't really make a very good tourist unless you like the inside of a bar.

OK, Rob, I'll play along, unlike these other pisstake merchants (not you G2B). Time your visit to coincide with Songkran & join in with the festivities (preferably not in KSR, though). Eeeerrm , that & Loy Krathong are all I can think of. All the other memorable experiences I had were either not unique to Thailand, or were things that most people wouldn't do/get to do, anyway.

Play golf at the Ratchanaburi army course. Late afternoon the millions of bats coming out of the caves for a feed is stunning.

Loy Kratong is nice, but I would avoid everything around Songkran unless you are upcountry.

Songkran is all about the money and the accidents in the tourist areas

Bats sound like they're worth a watch mate

The best thing to do in Thailand is go and see a really good luktung or morlam concert, beats anything. Went to one today with Mangpor and an old singer called chia man cing who has been at it for almost 50 years, in a wheelchair now bless him, the result of a stroke. Lots of great dancing costumes, it was on TV, yesterday even saw the PM singing at a concert even if he did forget the words.
Bit of a contrast tonight as somebody took me to the upmarket pent club near the Uk embassy, was looking forward to it as I thought the gals would be rather special, well the barfines are 6200 baht for the dancers! I was bored stiff the whole time and was very surprised how ugly and crude most of the girls where, what do people see in these money drains. Anyhow any girlie place is boring to me these days upmarket or not, concerts are far more fun.

Even upcountry Here, near Chiang Mai I stock food and drink for 10 days and I not venture outside more than to the nearest thai shop 300m away. They are really mad.

Ride around the Mai Hong Son Loop, with as many stops as possible.

Rock climbing in Krabi, especially Tonsai Beach.

    Similan Islands scuba diving.

Fishing at khao laem dam (Kanchanaburi).

An argument with a policeman about a supposed driving offence.

Been here since oct 06, my most memorable and must do thing was snapping a banana off whilst implanted in a girls ass at babydols, the expression on her face whilst attempting to back the otherhalf was priceless and something im sure i will never see anywhere else other that pattaya.

No, I'm saying that the things I most enjoyed about Thailand and were memorable for me would never be experienced by tourists. Flying in a Royal Thai Police Helicopter to border camps to supply & replenish. Skydiving with the Thai Police. My life with my little boy. My experiences with the dogs & what I achieved (& didn't). Living in Thailand and living amongst locals. Christmas parties or daytrips for local kids. Meeting some fantastic people via forums (and every single one I met whether through HHAD, TV or TD was a fantastic person) I had some shitty times, but I was also very lucky in a lot of ways. Tourists don't get that.
