Bit of a hot rod. The pipes I'll keep great sound good breathers too. Stip off the bling and bobs will set the bags up ofr easy on & off. Some engine mods. Wheels & tires. Was thinking of old style bobbed fender and a chopped front Fat boy fender but may stick with what is on there bumpers gotta go.

Eventually; 96 cubic inches, SE heads 9.25 - 9.5 CR, stickier tires, progressive suspension rear and MAYBE a wide inverted FE. I hate the term old school and it won;t be tricked up pseudo old school but the real deal, A biger and stronger engine in a bike stripped of unnecessary crap. New technology, old school approach, simple. Just a Scooter.

I hope to add things like EFI to the mix and am targeting 1.1 ft lbs and 1 HP per per cubic inch. Plan is to build a motor that pulls like a feight train from off idle to about 6000.

Will be a rider for a long while yet; the heads and cam can go in over a weekend, probably an SE air cleaner as well, leave the CV carb on it or upgrade to a 44 SE kehin CV. When it gets punched out & stroked maybe late this year or maybe next, will then look at adding EFI wth delphi throttle body, etc. Gotta make it so them Twinkie 96s eat my dust... As it is now I'm more worried about keepin fuel & oil in her. so the project won't get goin for a few months after shes in my hands.

Might paint when the engine & tranny comes down Powder coat the frame maybe a satin black maybe gloss, ain't sure yet. Might Paint it fire engine red or maybe the same blue as teh dyna I've posted some pictures of on the forum. The paint is nice and shiny though. If I do get teh EFI cobbed together I'll have to adapt a new style one piece tank to it so paint wil be necessary, I guess. I am not lookng to make a show piece, but when you see her you will know she is geared to go. Motorcycle is a machine, it should look like one, IMO.

I see, looks to be an ongoing project which will never see the end. Continues to evolve as time & money permit.
I think, I got the same engine as that, filling the air compressor tank in my workshop.

Must be a hell of a compressor then. Goes from 0 - 300 PSI in 10.89 seconds, does it?

Imagine I'm gonna be broke for a long while... But happy. There's a house to build, can't work without a garage/shop then tooling up will be fun and expensive. I went over the bike pretty well and getting it back to 100% will be the first expense. It's strong but got 56k Km on it looks like it's one of those bikes, you know, "needs a New primary? Nah, let's add some more Chrome!" Change the oil? OoooH look at them shiny chrome covers! We'll see the roads back fromUdon are diverse with some short gunbarrel straights and a few twists bumps pot hole and a whole long line of expansion joint roads. I figure if nothng falls off on the ride home I'm lookin pretty good!

Just a gentle jab in the ribs for a fellow biker.

I always prefer the blacked out look on Harleys, as it gave them a sense they were designed to eat up the miles.
All the chrome & farkles is not my thing. It add more weight to the bike. Which is a bad thing IMO.

Get all the chrome off, take off the stuff you don't need. A chop on the front & rear fender. Grab hold of Matt black paint. Cover the whole bike with it. Lay some exhaust wrap on the pipes, de-baffle it as well. Changes the bars for a more purposeful look. And you got a Harley that goes!

Well me chopper is now stripped into little pieces and ready to be fully rebuilt and will look like a different bike by the time it is done, starting with engine stripped checked before getting powder coated matt black, frame will have the head stem cut and the rake reduced to fit a new springer front end, new fuel tank made that follows the lines of the bike and new paint job, Handle bars made to fit.
New spoked rims and fatter rear tyre new rear guard, one that doesnt throw mud up my back, frame powder coated in gloss black, and a few other bits to make it one of a kind, Bike rewired and indicators put on and the bike plated.
Will be better than a new one
And congrats on the new ride Franky

    Nice lookin machine.

Talk to Marmers. He knows the road well. Bring along a support vehicle. Preferably with someone that can spell you on the bike. Long trip for a not so young as you used to be fellow.

Fuck that. But I will stop for a smoke a cool drink every couple hours. If I can't handle 600 -700 kilometers in a day I may as well leave the thing there. Reason I'm buyin the thing is to ride it. Done the road now a few times. Biggest problem I see on the route is them hiway cops extracting taxes along the way in Khonkaen. We got hit twice on the way back last weekend.

You can avoid them if you take the northern route up along the river. Bring along extra smokes.

Will ride it home strip off about 40kilos of chrome and what not. ride teh piss out of it and then start making it what I want. Doesn't really "need" any work but to make it what I want it 'need' a lot. Gonna be fun, in the meantime, I can ride it. That P-pad is ugly as sin ain't it?
Kind of cool the way it is with the stud and tassel things, styling baby!
If it's like every other Harley I've ridden it needs more power and to loose some weight like you said.
I'm thinking my next bike might be a XR1200 sporty. I saw a cool one in a showroom in Fairbanks.

Things got something I've never seen, the derby is an old tin primary style lookin thing. She's got to more chrome tin covers on her than Dame whatshername has rhinestones. I pity the poor bastrd that had to shine her up to show.

After I get it. AND get it dirty a few times. Will start stripping things off ASAP. As you well know, parts here ain't cheap. So. I layout a long term plan that wil keep me both broke and busy. Some things can be got from people making changes to their bikes some things MUST be new. As stuff becomes available, it can be acquired. As money frees up I will concentrate on the first stage of engine mods.

he do like that shit don't he?? Will sell or trade if someone wants it might pay for a piece or two. If I still have shit when I'm "done" I can hang it on the wall. Would be nice to have a pile of money and just tell you "it starts tomorrow and will be completed on..." but I've got to keep at least one foot in the real world.

If you want go fast then why you fucking with a Harley?
You go faster, quicker, Longer and cheaper with a Big Jap than even a Hog can brag about, thats not what HD is built for.
No matter what you do to them or spend on them they will never do what a big jap will do.

K Models were the last shot in the gun for racing Harleys just as the Chev V8 was it for drag racing on gasoline as the Big Hemi's would not run well on gas and did well as Fuelers.
I have had some powerful Hogs and they do have torque because of inches per cyl. but they will not do what a jap multi cyl will do off the line clear past top end.
If you want long range comfort and ride comfort, Harley is it, but if you want to go fast quick, a big jap is it.
    So why waste the money?
And I am waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

Becasue it's fun dammit. If I wanted a bike that did what Duc, Hondas, Kawis or Suzuki did. I caould save some fuckin money.
But when I can tool around the country for a few hundred thousand miles on a low eleven or high ten bike in comfort wth compelte streetablity and have fun building it?
I can turn this question back, Why not? Anyway, all my friends ride 95 inch twinkies I can;t let them stay in the front the whole fuckin ride, can I?

Might can Rigger, But you are into that scoot a bit and it is Buell, I have had Hogs that I could pull a tank, nothing but torque, out of the hole I could hang with the Beemers, but all I ever saw of the big cube japs was ass end.
And they do drag Harleys, but only again other Harleys, fact they did have an All Harley Drag Race assn. they would not fuck with the big Yamasakis.

Only time I ever worried about being in front was when I was Road Captain, other than that I don't give much of a fuck as long as mine runs the whole run and don't have to ride in a pickup like a German Shepard.
I will not run faster than anyone else in the pack and hold my place in the pack.

I do not care what you do to your bike, None of my business, I just said the way I feel and thats all.
