Assange went to Sweden in the first place to seek residence permit:mid:, he had found after extensive research that Sweden with it's strong stance on freedom and human rights and some of the strongest laws protecting Journalists, would be the perfect place for him to stay protected from the US and a place where wikileaks servers could operate safely.
As it happened the Swedes did not want him, and suddenly after the sex allegations Sweden has become the most dangerous place in the world for Assange, a Sweden where all the protections he based his original application for residency on, all those advantages and protections have suddenly vanished like dew in the Sun :mid::):)
Next we have the fact that Sweden cant extradite Assange to the US without British approval, so where is the logic in the US not already having asked for Assanges extradition in Britain thus avoiding any possible complications in Sweden?......... You are right there is no logic :bananaman: well done, because Assange is brazenly lying there is no greater risk for him getting extradited from Sweden than the one he has been in all the time he was happy to stay in Britain, because the Brits have the final say on any extradition anyway:mid::mid:
Finally in the line of facts, there still is no extradition request from the US, after years of the US Government's best legal minds trying to find some US law they could use to justify a warrant for Assanges arrest on foreign soil, they have found none so far, so the likely-hood that they will later is very little, and again then it would be up to the Brits.
So any speculation about any extradition to the US is so far pure fantasy, secondly it would not be a Swedish decision to make since any extradition ultimately would have to be approved in Britain, so the danger for Assange in Sweden is no greater than the one he he has been in all the time in Britain.
You freedom fighters, who will stand up for the oppressed and persecuted, when will you stand up in disgust and dismay, over the way Assange is mis-using Asylum and the plight of real persecuted people to pull of this con.
Assange is worried about one thing only and that is getting convicted as a sex-offender, everything else is blatant lies and deceit, his misuse of international safeguards and terms created for the protection of people in real life-threatening plight from murderous dictators and terrorist states, is just about the lowest and most despicable theatre I have seen, this con and the man Assange is way beyond loathing and reprehension, he has truly developed into a prominent member of the Scum of the earth.

Something a little similar happened in Australia years ago when Lindy Chamberlain was accused of killing her baby. The police were over-zealous and were convinced of her guilt (rather than her story of a dingo taking the baby) so they downplayed certain aspects and overplayed others. She was later exonerated.
Assange seems to be playing the extradition card to avoid overzealous authorities prosecuting him, as he may well get jail time for years.
I think what is revealing is that if the US wanted him they could have previously asked Britain to extradite him. This is the bare fact and the elephant in the room.

As I said the pdf from Nordic news network is a biased opinion pice from a US hostile organisation, not anywhere near a Journalistic neutral dissection of the known facts.
It is packed with factual misrepresentations, undocumented assumptions, undocumented conspiracy theory's and personal connections and undocumented perceived personal opinions and political motives.
It is a conspiracy paper in line with the most fancy full we have seen here on TD and worth as much.... or little if you like.
And the fact is that it is usually media who blow criminal cases out of proportion and not the system, single mistakes in difficult to prove cases from around the world with very different courts-systems cant directly in any fair way be projected to the Swedish system and this case in particular LD
I think we should trust the Swedes Judicial system to handle this case unbiased and correctly and according to Swedish law, they are well known for having extensive protections for the accused, and rigorous demands to evidence, absolutely no sense of humour, and doing things strictly by the book, further more their prison sentences belongs to the shortest in the world, what would buy you 10-15 in the US would probably often relate to 1-2 years in Sweden.
If I had to chose where to be accused of a crime I would definitely choose a Scandinavian country, highest standard of police investigative procedures and tools, high on legal safeguards and rights of accused, possibility of appeal several times, short sentences, 3 star hotel prisons with own room private bath and toilet, 5 min. minimum response time on a cell call, legally guaranteed fresh air every day, own tv/radio in each cell, extensive prison programs to alleviate boredom, your teeth and other ailments fixed for free once there, little prison violence etc. etc. etc.
So the mental picture they try to paint in peoples heads, of Assange ending up in a Deer Hunter Vietnam like tiger-hole could not be further from the truth :rofl:
We might disagree with the extensive protection of women and principle in the Swedish law, but just like when we are here in Thailand, we cant argue that it is OK to break said law when we are guests in a Country, and that not knowing or disregarding because we do not agree, is no valid excuse and our own personal responsibility.

The US have refused to confirm or deny if they have an extradition request ready and waiting or confirm that they wont issue one whilst Assange is in Sweden, easily fixed.
This appears to be Assange main fear. If the whole business is purely the sexual molestation affair give Assange that and he has no right not to go back.
As for the pdf report, as always the issues raised to some may be trivial but remain the bedrock of a civilised country. Once lost, as we see with the statement that the UK, by announcing it will storm embassies, will abrogate it's commitment to an international treaty adhered to by most countries, anarchy reaps the bounty.
Unfortunately the truth is that those situations have been proven to exist and are being used frequently not only by "banana republics" but also by "civilised" countries. The reliance of trusted legal and constitutional safety nets has already been lost, as well you know.Quote:
