I was over in Oz for the British Lions tour in 2001. Great time, no hooliganism, the Lions and Oz supporters had a great crack.

Whatever this virus is that affects the UK, it's only a soccer virus.

The Aussie fans are awesome, they're allowed sit with mixed fans AND drink beer. There's a reason for that.

I've got a theory* about that. Football crowds get so riled because of the comparative lack of actual physical clashes on the field. Contrast that with rugby for instance which being a full-contact sport has more than enough to sate spectators, so to speak.

While I'm at it shaking hands with the opposition team before the match, what the feck's that about?? You belt the bejesus out of each other during the match, get in sly digs as and when appropriate, and then shake hands and all is forgotten after the game. Best post-match beers I've ever had was always invariably with the guy(s) who'd damn near taken me head off during the game.

*I fully accept that this theory is most probably utter bollocks

Quality video reference fella - although sadly (As his life was cut short by the CIA - same as Bob Marley dying of a cancer growing up through his foot from a football injury ) unfortunately it all seems dated now (As its been copied so many times over the last 15 years)

The bet that there is no significant trouble by English fans at this years World Cup so all these types of threads and the usual media bollocks is exactly that, bollocks. That bet.

And as for my cyber upside down world?? I have followed my team, both club and country, at home and abroad so I know first hand that a lot of what is written is sensationalist bullshit. I also know that some of the the laws that are levied against football fans are far from fair (as you put it) and in fact are fucking liberties that would never be able to be justified in any other walk of life.

I know because I have been there whereas you? Well you haven't have you....

As far as I can see there are no cheap airfares to South Africa, nor are there bus rides or trains . . . these are things that would turn off your typical bald, tattooed thug.

There has been no hype but seeing as how sensitive you are one can see how anything more adrenalin-inducing, like a game of football, might make you pop.

I'm glad you read my biography . . . and I have been to a few rugby tournaments, mainly HK, Singapore, Sydney and here . . . fun, fun, fun! Everyone has a good time . . . because the spectators are not from the thug underclass.

I have also, however, seen first hand what your innocent little football morons do to cars and bus shelters and other people in England and when travelling in Amsterdam.

Watched an episode of "The Bill last night all about footbrawl hooligans - even if only half true what a condemnation on the quality of so called "sports" fans when squads of police , helicopters and and every other type of Police facility has to be put into full alert at taxpayers expense to prevent rival football teams from killing each other?
    What's wrong with these people?

Absolutely fucking none as I have continually said on every single post of this thread!! My rant is mainly aimed at the same old media bollocks that is spouted before every tournament and the same old stereotypical cliches that are banded around by the same old people who don't know jack shit.

By now the raping and pillaging should just about be getting started.

No women or children are safe. Nor men with their faces painted or using them silly fucking horns.

    Come on boys England expects.

    Absolutely fuck all!!!

A few might get mugged and a few ripped off whilst buying gear out there but aside from that absolutely fuck all will happen.

Before every tournament this same old shite gets spouted by the media and the same old holier than thou brigade jump up and come out with the same old sterotyped cliches! Oh they can't fight on their own, all skinheaded, tatooed racist, uneducated blah blah fucking blah when was there last massive disorder with involving England fans? In my eyes 1998, 12 fucking years ago!!!!!

Football violence in Britain is as good as dead. There are still occasional incidents as has been proven this year but on the whole it is only ever a couple of times a season.

Look at the last World Cup in our "enemies" back garden and all the shite that was said about it being WW3 and what happened? I'll tell you what a few bottles got thrown and a couple of plastic chairs in Stuggart the night before the match and that was it!

And this in a country that was easiy accessible by car/bus/plane/boat and had a lot more potential to kick off than South Africa does.

The days of thousands of English hooligans rampaging all over the world is long long gone. You'll get a few pissed up idiots as you do with every country (The Jocks taking the No. 1 spot for that!) but on the whole that will be it.

I'm sure they'll be a few game lads out there but an organised English firm? Nah I don't think so.

In fact I will happily have a bet with any of you now that there is more trouble in England when (that one's for the jocks) we get knocked out than there is over there!! FACT
Some of them Jocks are still trying to find their way home from Argentina
Our world cup trials and tribulations didn't end with Argentina. For the record we also qualified for Spain 82, Mexico 86, Italy 90 and France 98

Funny how a bloke who may have hit another bloke at a football match has his passport taken away, but convicted pedophiles are free to come and go to Pattaya as much as they want.
