m/t Sichem Osprey ran agound at Clipperton Island, Pacific ocean, in 10 17 N 109 12 W, after passing Panama Canal, voyage origin Houston, dest unknown.

Island is uninhabited, at least no permanent residents.

No details on grounding circumstances and present condition of the vessel.

Autopilot engaged, officer a sleep or not on bridge, possibly defective anti collision radar so no audio warning signal, some combination of these things would be my guess.

Reports coming out are now saying the xylene has leaked out and there is danger to all the marine life on and around the coral reef. An exclusion zone has been implmented and all shipping told to keep well clear. It wasn't engine trouble, the ship ran aground at full speed.

I doubt that. All papers are checked, there is no way a big company would employ someone with out the correct licenses. They have to comply with many regs in regard to that.

That'll be the same firm involved in that collision with the Froggy trawler off the Channel Islands a few years ago; trawler went down, 5 crew missing and the crew of the Sichem Pandora hadn't a clue - they found paint marks from the trawler on the tankers hull though...

Happened to a ship with a company I was with a few years ago. State of the art container ship, full speed straight onto Rhondo Island at the top of the Malacca Straits. Many hundreds of millions of Dollars lost in damages/chartering etc.

If it were not Russians, Norways still be eating raw fish. Although you are unlikely to know what Russia help to find oil in Norway. Personally, I worked a lot with Scandinavians (Norway, Swedes, Danes). So if russians drink vodka-they then still work. And if you drink (the Scandinavians), they are lying under the table with those described pants (I watched this). So shut up about Russian drinking. Scandinavians drink the same(perhaps more).
