Two-year-old with same IQ as Einstein

Oscar Wrigley, a two-year-old with the same IQ as Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, has become the youngest boy in Britain to be accepted into Mensa.
    By Chris Irvine
    Published: 8:00AM BST 10 Oct 2009

Assessors at the Gifted Children's Information Centre in Solihull said Oscar, with an IQ of at least 160, is one of the brightest children they have every come across.

He has been ranked in the 99.99th percentile of the population and has been ranked off the scale as the Stanford-Binet test cannot measure higher than 160.

Oscar's father Joe, 29, an IT specialist from Reading in Berkshire, said: "Oscar was recently telling my wife about the reproductive cycle of penguins.
"He is always asking questions. Every parent likes to think their child was special but we knew there was something particularly remarkable about Oscar.
"I'm fully expecting the day to come when he turns around and tells me I'm an idiot."
Mother Hannah, 26, told The Daily Mail: "He amazes everyone. We knew at 12 weeks he was extremely bright. He was unusually alert."
Mrs Wrigley, a housewife, added: "His vocabulary is amazing. He's able to construct complex sentences.
"The other day he said to me, 'Mummy, sausages are like a party in my mouth'."

Dr Peter Congdon, who assessed Oscar, said he was a "child of very superior intelligence".
"His abilities fall well within the range sometimes referred to as intellectually gifted. He demonstrated outstanding ability," he said.
John Stevenage, Mensa's Chief Executive confirmed Oscar had been accepted aged two years, five months and 11 days.
"Oscar shows great potential. Converting that potential to achievement is the challenge for his parents and we are delighted that they have chosen to join the Mensa network for support", he said.
The youngest British child to join Mensa is Elise Tan Roberts, from Edmonton, North London, at two years, four months and 14 days, with an IQ of 156.

    .................................................. .........

I wonder what happens to kids like this. Do they all grow up to fulfill everyones expectations or do they come off the tracks by having one holiday in Thailand and falling for a go go dancer. ?

Oscar is the complete opposite of some of our members

these have the IQ of a 2 year old in their 50+ year old bodies

"Oscar was recently telling my wife about the reproductive cycle of penguins.
    a future whoremonger?

Maybe we should petition the Nobel prize association to give him the next prize as I am sure he will come up with something great. Best of luck to the kid as I know what he will be going through.

A complete load of bollocks. The test would be a simplistic setup for a 2 year old and would give a skewed result.

It'd be interesting to see what he's going to end up like in 25 years time.

I was part of a group of gifted kids, then school happened. Now I'm pretty crap.

Marmite, I know what you are talking about. When I was in Jr. High School, it was determined that I had a 150+ IQ. You would never know it now. I hope this kid gets the proper help he needs to be a productive member of society in the years to come.

Same here, but I was 8 when the revelation was made... Unfortunately, intelligence does not equate to ingenuity... If so, I would be cashed up living in a penthouse in some decadent locale...

For myself, I did not find out about this until after I had graduated from high school. By that time it was to late to help me. A lost cause for me.

Arrh the old milkman conundrum. Only jokin.

I also was always in the experimental classes at school. Advanced mathematics and science. It always worked out great because I had to miss at least 2 half days a week for the rugby or cricket team and then I got another 2 afternoons off to attend the advanced classes in the boring shit. We did an iq test and I scored 130+ and thought that this would help me in later life. I took advanced maths and physics as A'levels but found them both so completely boring that I got banned from science and I never went to maths. I never even took the final exams, they predicted my results for me and I still got accepted into uni which I found even easier than A'levels.

They definitely give you the hardest shit when your young. I did pick the only course that had no exams and no course work though.

I'll never forget my first day at uni, I asked "How much of this years work counts towards my final grade?" "Zero" replied the lecturer. "O.k, I'll see you next year then!"

I ended up staying for 5 years because the parties were so good.

I was tested as a child because of having trouble reading (dyslexia) and have a report that scored me in as 137. I don't think it means a damn thing.

Reading this post prompted me to look at the MENSA website. The only qualifications for admission are that you must prove you are in the top 2% of peoples IQ by passing their test or taking an approved IQ test administered under approved conditions. One problem: while they have contacts in many countries for membership information, all listed on their website, Thailand is not one of them.

There's a lot of idiots who think they are intelligent too. Far worse. I may be one of them.

At 2 1/2 I was reading The Guardian.

    This kid is a retard.

Didn't do me any good. I ended up in Thailand (and on this board!)...how clever is that.

BobR, I've administered IQ tests. It's ironically not a good test of intelligence, as it only really measures 2 aspects of intellectual ability.

I once treated a psychopath with an IQ of around 165, he was still an idiot.
