Huh. Nobody posted anything about this day? Guess the Euros want to forget what the Americans, Canadians and Brits did on this day to liberate the Continent from the Nazis. Thank the gods for the Rangers, too.
You're welcome anyway.

Yes....saving the world for democracy.![]()
Nice to see Glasgow Rangers get a mention on here we won the double this season...
As far as I remember The good ole USA did not enter the war in Europe until 1940 and after the destruction at Pearl Harbour. The war started in September 1939 for the UK and Canada and the Commonwealth.
However the most important thing to remember is the sacrifices that the Allies made and we should never forget the bravery of these people. or we would all be walking round wearing jackboots.
When I get home to Thailand I will have a drink to their memory.
"Don,t f*ck with the baldies*
^^
You lot were on the Japanese side if I remember!! Or maybe you were not sure which side to bet on (oh let me guess we,ll back the winners) democracy you dont know what it means!!
Maybe one day but I wont hold my breath![]()
Brave men.
I am grateful to them & always buy poppies.
Bladdy wanklettes. What did Europe ever do for anyone but themselves?
OK, watch Saving Private Ryan then.
Pearl Harbor was in 1942.Originally Posted by thehighlander959
Let us also not forget Thailand was on the Axis side during the war, and was a defeated enemy.

Rather than getting all starry eyed over some Hollywood glam, here's some actual footage.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong
I`ve been dragging my heels with a bitch called hope
Let the undercurrent drag me along.
Pearl Harbour December 7th 1941 as far as I know.
What a lousy early morning call.
Japan/Germany/Italy -Axis of Evil (Thailand still deciding if they are a democracy or not and to side with the winners when its done and dusted)
UK/Commonwealth/USA and Allies- The good guys
Seeing the men fall as soon as they set foot on the beach is moving.
They didn't even get the chance to fire back.

Why should we be invited ?
Never declared War on Hitler
Never had a Battle of Britain
Never fought in the Far East
Never went Bankrupt because of a War we never participated in
Never had to pay back good old USA for every bullet we bought (if we participated in that War)
No British lives were lost
Gen De Gualling!! only used England as a place to launce his military Offensive and his political career,
We were busy in the Pubs
France and Italy the only armies in the world where their tanks have a reverse gear and there is no need for tank identification marks as the yellow flag flying from the tank ariel mast covers all bases.![]()

Sunday, December 7 - Islands of Hawaii, near Oahu - The Japanese attack force under the command of Admiral Nagumo, consisting of six carriers with 423 planes, is about to attack. At 6 a.m., the first attack wave of 183 Japanese planes takes off from the carriers located 230 miles north of Oahu and heads for the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.
Pearl Harbor - At 7:02 a.m., two Army operators at Oahu's northern shore radar station detect the Japanese air attack approaching and contact a junior officer who disregards their reports, thinking they are American B-17 planes which are expected in from the U.S. west coast.
Near Oahu - At 7:15 a.m., a second attack wave of 167 planes takes off from the Japanese carriers and heads for Pearl Harbor.
Have a look round Bangkok Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza there is still a Japanese occupation.![]()
^^Once you've been in Thailand long enough, you'll know better than to trust this sort of historical nonsense. Pearl Harbour was 1942.
It's also the case that the Thais were a defeated enemy in 1945, in spite of the fact that the Americans, the people who won the war and have overseen the peace ever since, decided to classify the Thai declarations of war as having been made under duress and not representative of the will of the people of Thailand, and therefore dealt with the Thais as one of the countries that had been oppressed and occupied by the Japanese.
It is simply not true that the British, who in their mortal fury at having been rolled over rather easily by the Japanese were out for whatever they could get to salvage some sense of having a penis amongst their millions, tried to force the Thais to pay reparations and insisted on treating them as defeated enemies. Neither is it true that the Yanks stepped in and put a stop to this impotent charade, making sure the Thais paid virtually nothing to the emasculated former colonial big swinging dick. Fact is, the Thais were a defeated enemy and Pearl Harbour was 1942.
These things all become clear once you've lived here long enough.
I really do not know what kind of shit you are smoking, but it is sure enough fucking with your head.![]()
^Sorry. Some fool posted that Pearl Harbor was 1942. Said fool tends to be one of these, "I know this because I've lived here 10 years" kind of guys who post opinionated nonsense and treat it as fact because... He also said we should remember that the Thais were defeated enemies in 1945. This is about as correct as 1942 for Pearl Harbor. I was being ironic.
And just to be clear, if what I smoke doesn't fuck my head up, I want my money back.
