A FRENCH textile firm has caused outrage by telling nine of its workers that they have the choice between the sack and redeploying to an Indian factory and taking a gigantic pay-cut.
Carreman told its workers at a plant in the southwestern town of Castres that it would offer them pay of 69 euros ($122.37) a month if they moved to Bangalore, union officials said at the weekend.
The minimum legal monthly salary in France is 1,321 euros ($2,342.82).
Francois Morel, the boss of the factory, told a local paper that before being allowed to lay off the workers he was obliged to offer them work elsewhere in the group under legal requirements which he described as "stupid.''
CGT union official Edmond Andreu told AFP that the offer had provoked ``anger mixed with stupefaction'' among workers at the factory, who say it is obvious no-one will take up the proposition.
Workers at the Bangalore factory are paid the equivalent of 69 euros a month for working a six-day week, and get an annual bonus of a month's pay as well as medical insurance.
The nine Castres workers were also offered free plane tickets and a 1,000-euro bonus for moving.

They should have taken it I would say, if the unions get so strong that that shit is acceptable then I don't blame the companys for doing it, just as here in Thailand.
Severance pay and bonus and that shit is not right, if they do not need you and are laying off then you should get a layoff and a final tally of your wages and down the street you go, but if they want to lay you off to hire his brother then it should be legal for you to burn the fucking place down.

Big difference between IBM and Carreman... IBM employees are non-union while Carreman has a legal requirement to offer union employees a job in another division...

Of course BO won't step in to help the ex-IBM folks as they aren't members of the UAW which helped get him elected...

The UAW should not be classed as a Labor Union, they are a bunch of gangsters with the same rules as Thai unions from what I have heard of the ones here.
Way it should be is when layoff comes, the foreman or who ever, comes out and tells you that there will be a layoff coming up, or just comes out and hands you your check[s] that brings you up to the end of that shift, and so you load you trash and leave, if he is anything but a prick he will give you half a shift to pack up.
And there is no seniority, Best hands stay and the least leave.

Invade yes, but then when someone made a complaint the couldn't hold it and their invasion is kinda like the muzzies do it, one at at time til you got em outnumbered.

Why should they do that, need to lock their excuse for a union and the officials inside and then torch it the crooked thieving bastards that can't earn a day wages and you still can't fire em, what a fucked up way to run a country.
