ATM thieves blow up half of bank
POLICE are hunting for thieves who blew up an ATM at a bank in the north of Tasmania today.
The thieves targeted the ANZ bank in Latrobe at 1.15am (AEDT) and the explosion caused extensive damage to the glass-fronted building, The Mercury reports.
They escaped with a large amount of cash.
Police are searching for two people who are believed to have been involved in the robbery.
It is believed one of them may have been injured in the explosion and need medical attention.
Police would like anyone who has information about the explosion or saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the robbery to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
