The lucky country? Fires in the south, floods in the north.

This gallery of photos from the NT News. Some pretty amazing photos.

Making my stomach turn daily as I view reports....sparse enough, but to see the country basically burning away. Bush fires and seasonal drought fires are expected....I understand that many are being blamed upon arsonists.

They've arrested three guys and Rudd (the dickhead) wants them charged with manslaughter or even murder . . . I can't see that fly, but it should.

Read in the paper today about an old couple, married 49 years.....she was using the garden hose, he was sitting in his rocking chair on the verandah watching.

She wanted to leave, he did not, he sat and sat watching the fire in his chair.

She had to go, she lived, the house burnt and probably him as well.

Anybody that is caught for starting these fires....why should they NOT be charged with manslaughter. You drive a car and hit someone and kill them and if you have done it illegaly, you get charged and go to jail....end result the same...fire/car....Hang them up and soak them in petrol....light a fire nearby and see how long it takes to ignite.

Thats what they get for not building a KFC

At least the animal bar gets a good clean out

I learnt to dive in Darwin Harbour...

A 4.6m saltwater crocodile captured in the Darwin Harbour. It was eventually transported to Janamba Crocodile Farm, but only after it fought crocodile contractors for over an hour.

Unhappy Its the same every year

Sadly these bush fires and floods happen here every year, most of the fires are deliberate usually financed by property developers, especially here in Queensland, prime state forest on the coastal strip are targeted ,nothing as big as down south, further north is the cyclone belt where floods and bad storms are to be expected every year between january and may, the township of Cardwell for example and the main highway get flooded everyyear, just the fires this year are shocking and with the drought things can only get worse, and with the massive developments still encroaching into the mountains the death toll can sadly only rise

You reckon? I understood that this amount of flooding washed out all the soil nutrients and little would grow. Correct me if I'm wrong.
