Five reported dead, suspects arrested in Quebec City mosque shooting

Five people have been killed after gunmen opened fire in a Quebec City mosque during evening prayers, the mosque's president says.

Quebec police confirmed the shooting in a tweet, and police on the scene said there had been fatalities.

"There are many victims … there are deaths," a Quebec police spokesman told reporters.

Police also said suspects had been arrested.

Earlier, a witness told Reuters that up to three gunmen fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre.

"Why is this happening here? This is barbaric," said the mosque's president, Mohamed Yangui.

Mr Yangui, who was not inside the mosque when the shooting occurred, said he got frantic calls from people at evening prayers.

He did not know how many were injured, saying they had been taken to different hospitals across Quebec City.

In June 2016, a pig's head was left on the doorstep of the cultural centre.

Incidents of Islamophobia have increased in Quebec in recent years amid a political debate over banning the niqab, or Muslim face covering.

In 2013, a mosque in the Saguenay region of Quebec was splattered with what was believed to be pig blood.

In the neighbouring province of Ontario, a mosque was set on fire in 2015, a day after an attack by gunmen and suicide bombers in Paris.

Trump inspired violence. The cretins are feeling empowered. Incidents of hate and intimidation against Muslims are happening everywhere.

Hate crimes have skyrocketed since he illegitimately won the nomination and not just against Muslims it has been across the board.

For the same reason God didn't save the Christian victims of the Charleston church massacre.

Any rule against caring about people of Any faith that get murdered by some unhinged lunatic at their place of worship?

    More Fake news:-

"One man being held was identified as Alexandre Bissonnette, a French-Canadian, the other as Mohamed Khadir, who is of Moroccan heritage although his nationality was not immediately known. Both men are believed to be Muslim."
Erm, nope- there is one suspect, Bissonette, and he is a White nationalist/ supremacist, anything but Moslem. The Moroccan guy had nothing to do with it.

Alexandre Bissonnette: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

    1. Bissonnette Has Right-Wing, Pro-Israel, Pro-Trump & Anti-Immigration Beliefs, a Former Classmate Says

“Apart from his twin brother, I did not see him with other people,” said Mikael Labrecque Berger, in French. He said Bissonnette was an “unpopular nerd,” and was not always taken seriously by classmates.

“He replied to insults, but never with physical violence,” Labrecque Berger said, adding that he and his twin brother didn’t integrate with other students. They were usually only seen together, he said.

The former classmate, who had only seen him once since high school, said he didn’t know about any politics or beliefs that could have sparked the shooting.

But another former classmate, Jean-Michel Allard-Prus, who studied politics with him, at Université Laval and has kept in touch with him, told Le Journal de Quebec that Bissonnette, “has right-wing political ideas, pro-Israel, anti-immigration. I had many debates with him about Trump. He was obviously pro-Trump.”

And a third university classmate, Vincent Boissoneault, who grew up with Bissonnette, was friends with him on Facebook, told the Globe and Mail, “I can tell you he was certainly no Muslim convert. I wrote him off as a xenophobe. I didn’t even think of him as totally racist, but he was enthralled by a borderline racist nationalist movement.”

Acquaintances said he became interested in the far right movement when Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far-right National Front in France, spoke in Quebec City in March 2016, the Globe and Mail reports. He began speaking out about politics on Facebook and became estranged from some friends, according to the newspaper.

Fortunately, the Sunni/ Shiite schism seems to be left 'over there'. So far.
The killer seems to fit the profile of many mass shooters- a gawkish misfit, with bigoted views.
Anti-feminist, pro Le-Pen, anti-immigration- obviously a perfect Trump supporter! Oh, and he was an internet troll- I wonder what his TD nic is.

Here we go again. Narrow minded liberals who beat Trump Supporters mercilessly calling Trump illegitimately elected, and labeling All Trump Supporters as being deplorable. Waste of time...beating yourself up with all that tripe.

Most people I know, who support Trump...are not haters at all. Not as the liberals hate.

I noticed it right away: "Liked Trump" "Trump supporter" in the headlines.

    Even though he's fucking Canadian.

Whenever the Muslims attack us, the main stream media say this isn't Islam-
are they saying this isn't Trump?

Are they always warn about a backlash - will there be stories in the news soon of skinny white Canadians being abused ?

He's actually Quebecois....many of whom are not sure if they want to be Canadian or not....they have had two referendums on separation so far and will probably keep having more.

Quebec is that one province in Canada where a good part of the population is paranoid about protecting their identity and culture. They have special language laws that control the size of English letters on signs and all kinds of shit like that, that you would never find anywhere else in Canada.

This guy is likely just another disturbed, insecure loon, acting alone to save Quebec culture from the hordes of Islam......usually it's been the hoards of Anglo's but times are changing, and the enemies of Quebec need to be reassessed.

Looks more like a budding futures trader and right wing loner.

Perhaps with problems having meaningful relationships with the opposite sex.

Oh, so Quebec is not multicultural, and doesn't embrace multi-culturalism?
I suggest you get on Google, and try and educate yourself a bit.
