    UAE pardons British "Spy".

The United Arab Emirates has pardoned a British academic researcher sentenced to life for spying.

Matthew Hedges, 31, was handed a life sentence last week, sparking international outrage.

The decision to pardon him comes after Emirati officials showed a video to reporters of Hedges, a doctorate student in Middle Eastern studies at Durham University, claiming he is a captain in MI6.

The footage was shared with journalists at a news conference in Abu Dhabi on Monday. The video, which Emirati officials did not allow journalists to record, shows Hedges describing himself as a captain in MI6 during what appears to be a court hearing in the Gulf Arab country.

Another clip appears to show Hedges speaking to someone in an office and saying: "It helps the research to go in in an easy way."
Then, Hedges is seen snapping his fingers and adds: "Then it becomes MI6."

Emirati authorities showed the video after coming under increasing international pressure over Hedges' life sentence, handed down last week.

I know/knew a British academic who, allegedly, used to recruit for the British security services.

Of course he could be as much an MI6 spook as those geezers in the beer bars of Pattaya are ex-Squadron.

It might be a surprise to a blithering halfwit like you, but spooks do not tend to go around advertising their employment.

Indeed. They are labelled as "academics" or "researchers" or are embedded with companies such as Washington based consultancy Gulf State Analytics or work for front companies like Babylon Communications, Dorothy. As an aside, there is no such thing as Mi6.

    Glad we agree.

What makes you so sure that there's no truth in these allegations, harry?

There are swinging sites in Bahrain?

Last time I was there they used to just lob their car keys in a bowl.

Mind you, I'm a bit concerned about your interest in my genitalia. Are you a fag?

like the scene in the Kingsmen. When Mark Strong is stood in the doorway and someone asks him who he is. He says "From MI-6"
The which the retort was "there is no such thing as Mi6"
    His reply? 'that's the spirit"

My mates son went for interviews at what he said was MI-6 but he didn't make the final cut. He's in the Army now!
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

    ....Or so he says.

If only he had gone in the door marked SIS he might have passed the test?
