Shop keepers should be armed, ready to defend themselves... so should all able bodied citizens... IMHO.

^^ There are a lot of armed police around - just look at the pictures coming out now - but I don't think having all police carry guns would achieve anything. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's ever been a terrorist attack in Britain where that would have made a difference. And not having an armed policeforce is a mark of civilization which one should not give up lightly.

They will all be packin' soon...Would be fun to spray an "automatic burst" at some knife-wielding fckwits, eh?...

I wouldn't advise anyone to do that mate, unless they're trained and skilled/practiced enough to defend themselves against and disarm a knife attacker.

Number 1 rule in self defence,...move away from an attack, move early enough and fast enough and furthest away is best.
Hide if someone's looking for you to attack you.
Tell/report/call for help if you can.
Defending someone else is another game altogether.

So an unarmed cop was one of the first to encounter these terrorists he was stabbed and is in serious condition. If he was armed how many people could have been saved?
