Doctor at Sydney hospital discovers scurvy resurgence due to poor dietary habits

There has been a resurgence of the rare condition of scurvy among a group of diabetes patients at a major western Sydney hospital.

It appears scurvy, a historical disease caused by a lack of vitamin C and generally associated with old-world sailors on long voyages, is making a surprise comeback in Australia, due to poor modern dietary habits.

Clinician-researcher Professor Jenny Gunton heads the Diabetes Centre at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research and investigated whether a vitamin C deficiency was behind one of her patient's unhealed wounds.

"She just did not have a reason not to heal her ulcers and they'd been there for seven months and that's just not right," Professor Gunton said.

Bloody classic,lard arses who cannot be bothered to eat a balanced diet,fruit and veges are cheap in OZ, especially in large towns and cities.
Only have to go to busy supermarkets to see what the fat bastards have in their trolleys.
Big bottles of soft drink,biscuits,chips etc but no fresh fruit or veges,lazy gluttons.
