She is one lucky bint. Could have been back in the UK serving out her sentence!

PERU TWO' drug mule Melissa Reid has been pictured for the first time in three years after being told she'll be able to return home 'very soon'.

The 22-year-old Scot appears to have aged considerably after her three-year stint behind bars in Peru.

She was seen being led away from a court in Lima in handcuffs after the British Embassy confirmed she will shortly be expelled from the South American country.

Reid is being held in Lima and hoped to serve the remainder of her six-year sentence near to her home, in Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire.

Reid’s legal team had applied for a transfer back to the UK under the Prisoner Transfer Agreement which has existed between the UK and Peru since March 7, 2003.

It would have seen her serve out the remainder of her sentence in Scotland.

But a series of strikes and court backlog scuppered the move and left her family seeking other ways to bring her back to the UK.

Earlier this year Peru brought in laws that allowed overseas prisoners to apply for expulsion to help ease chronic overcrowding.

Now following her successful application it means Reid is likely to be deported back to the UK without having to serve any more time.
