Key crown witness on stand at Pickton trial

NEW WESTMINSTER - Another of the crown's key witnesses has taken the stand at the Robert Pickton trial -- a witness who promises to deliver a chilling rendition of a conversation he says he had with the accused serial killer.

Dressed in dark pants and a dark shirt, looking far removed from the drug lifestyle in which he used to be a part, Andrew Bellwood has taken the stand.

So far his testimony has focused on his life, his run-ins with police and his binges on crack cocaine, as well as his eventual introduction to Robert Pickton.

Though it hasn't been brought up yet, jurors have already heard how Bellwood told police about a conversation he had with Pickton, a conversation in which the accused is said to talk about handcuffing and killing sex trade workers before feeding their remains to his pigs.

This guy is accused of killing 20-30 women, not all that far from here on the mainland.

It gets worse. I just heard the details on CBC Radio *gulp* They actually reported on public radio, at dinnertime, that:

After handcuffing them, having anal sex, stroking their hair, whispering "It's ok, it's all over now.." and strangling drug-addicted prostitutes at his pig-slaughter farm, he would butcher these women, cutting their skulls vertically in half like lobsters, before feeding the remains to his pigs, who were then slaughtered for human consumption, or he would send the human remains to a rendering plant, where no doubt plenty of household and nutritional uses were found for the pathetic remains of Picton's numerous female victims.

The Pickton farm is in a suburb of Vancouver, Canada. Robert is mentally challenged and many think his brother is the main man behind these tortures and killings. Rumours are that bike gangs also used the farm to make snuff films.
All the women were pros or druggies in the East End (Vancouver's downtown slum district), which is likely why it took police so long to look into their disappearances.
Possibly worse than the contents of "Hostel".

Well, the testimony keeps coming, in dribs and drabs, on a weekly basis, around the dinner hour on the 5:30 local and 6:00 news, and it's still only halfway through his first trial; there's a second one coming for more dead/butchered women. He could've killed as many as 50, no-one's sure. Monster.
