Glastonbury: Dalai Lama warms up for Lionel Richie

The Dalai Lama has appeared on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury alongside US singer Patti Smith.

The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader received a huge cheer from the crowd, who later sang him Happy Birthday.

After the Dalai Lama delivered a speech about happiness and Smith finished her visceral punk poetry, 1980s pop star Lionel Richie was next on the stage.

Richie, whose hits include All Night Long, Hello and Dancing on the Ceiling, was in the mid-afternoon "legend" slot.

One of the most hotly anticipated acts on the final day of the famously eclectic festival, he opened with his 1983 hit single Running With The Night.

She is 70 yo. Still doing big tours, and wowing audiences with her energy, music, and great shows. Hope I'm still doing half as well at her age.

Fck hope the Chinese in Beijing impose sanctions on the U.K. Like they have done in Africa , any African citizen can invite The Monk to their African country, but they will not issue Deli a visa, China gets the African Governments to refuse him a visa.
What visa was issued to him to enter the U.K.

I saw Lionel's performance and he was really great. A real musician who can work the crowd. (I also heard the Dali Lama speak in Central Park NYC in 1999 - i believe?).

Unfortunately, i saw some of that monkey Kanya's antics at that awards show which Paul Weller described as "utter shite"...I'd sooner pay to watch monkeys j**king off at the zoo. No wonder they started that petition. Rock star my arse.
