    ferguson protests in london:

Hundreds of people have taken part in a demonstration outside the US embassy in London condemning the decision not to charge a police officer with shooting Missouri teenager Michael Brown.

Protesters observed a minute's silence before marching down Oxford Street and making their way to Parliament Square.

They were joined by Carole Duggan, whose nephew Mark was shot dead by a Met police officer in 2011.

This whole event has nothing to do with race and everything to do with a willful disregard for the law regardless of skin colour. A colour didn't start this... a behavior and a mindset that disregards Authority and the safety and respect of another human being...that's why and how it started.

^ all the looting and rioting only makes me think that probably the police officer was acting in self defense. Its just an out of control rampage to steal shit.

You know the old saying about how a prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich? Apparently McCulloch has brought five officer shootings before grand juries and gotten no indictments so it seems it's easier to indict a ham sandwich than the whole pig, grand juries usually get presented with all the facts needed for an indictment, not all the facts needed for an acquittal; that's the defense's job.

Scalia had something to say about grand juries too:

It is the grand jury’s function not ‘to enquire … upon what foundation [the charge may be] denied,’ or otherwise to try the suspect’s defenses, but only to examine ‘upon what foundation [the charge] is made’ by the prosecutor. Respublica v. Shaffer, 1 Dall. 236 (O. T. Phila. 1788); see also F. Wharton, Criminal Pleading and Practice § 360, pp. 248-249 (8th ed. 1880). As a consequence, neither in this country nor in England has the suspect under investigation by the grand jury ever been thought to have a right to testify or to have exculpatory evidence presented. (underline by me)

Justice Scalia explains why the Ferguson grand jury was completely wrong

People frequently disagree with verdicts arrived at after lengthy and expensive trials.

People frequently disagree with judgements issued by individual judges or whole panels of judges....if the results don't fit in with what they had already decided.....

.so why would anybody find it odd that all those who had already convicted the cop without any evidence, other than highly biased media bullshit, and statements made by looters, would disagree with the findings of this grand jury?.....or do you believe that white cops are just always guilty regardless of the facts and circumstances?

Not at all, my point was more that finding of guilt or innocence is not the function of a grand jury, it's the job of a jury.

You are attempting to poison the well by writing off witness statements as "made by looters" and media reports as "highly biased media bullshit". Both those may or may not be true but they are entirely dependent on one's view when approaching the case; your idea of "highly biased media bullshit" might be polar opposite to somebody else's and is not in any way relevant in any case (and therefore neither is mine).

All the more reason for a proper trial in my opinion. This sort of cop-out (no pun intended) is always going to leave an asterisk next to the historical record so give the officer his day in court and the dead guy too.

Meh, just my ramblings on the story. Have a nice day.

Why Ferguson touched a raw, national nerve - CNN.com

"I just felt the immense power that he had," said Wilson, who is about 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. "It was like a 5-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan. That's just how big this man was."
Brown was about the same height as Wilson. He weighed nearly 300 pounds.

Cop got big all of a sudden, do these people check facts or just make up story's, to incite trouble.

What next, a FOX news contributor?

"I've got to figure out what do we do now," Wilson said Saturday night. "Right now I would not want to be a cop, but you never know. Only time will tell."

I don't know about being a pussy. I do know im fat, lazy and not a good fighter. When i lived in the states i carried concealed daily and had guns in most rooms of my house. If i am a pussy im gonna be a smart one and not a dead one.

This officer needed more time at the shooting range. I believe if he shot just once or twice and had a kill this discussion would be moot.

Ferguson Mayor: Darren Wilson Will Not Receive A Severance Package

Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson did not receive any severance package when he resigned over the weekend, the St. Louis suburb's mayor said Sunday.

Wilson, 28, won't receive any further pay or benefits, and he and the city have severed their ties, Mayor James Knowles told reporters a day after Wilson tendered his resignation, effective immediately.

Darren Wilson: Resigning is 'hardest thing I’ve ever had to do'

I wonder if Wilson thinks burying his own child would be more difficult?

(Reuters) - Two police officers were shot during a protest outside the Ferguson, Missouri police headquarters early on Thursday, police said, just hours after the city's police chief quit following a damning justice report into his department.

"Two @SaintLouCo police officers were shot outside the #Ferguson PD shortly after midnight. Gathering more info. Conditions not known," the St. Louis County Police Department said in a tweet.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper earlier reported that Ferguson Lt. Col. Al Eickhoff said he did not believe either of the officers were part of his department. He could not provide details on their injuries to the Post-Dispatch.

A few dozen demonstrators fled following the sound of gunfire around midnight with some screaming, "They hit a cop," according to a Reuters photographer at the scene.

Several dozen protesters had gathered in front of the Ferguson police department earlier on Wednesday night, just hours after the city's police chief, Thomas Jackson, announced his resignation.

Prominent activist Deray McKesson said on Twitter that he was at the scene, adding that the gunfire did not appear to come from the group of demonstrators.

"The shooter was not with the protesters. The shooter was atop the hill. We can live in a world without guns," McKesson said.

Protesters had called for Jackson's removal since the fatal shooting of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown by white Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9, 2014. The killing triggered nationwide protests and drew scrutiny to police use of deadly force, especially against black men.

Neither a grand jury nor the federal probe led to charges against Wilson.

Jackson's departure was the latest in a string of officials who stepped down following a scathing report from the U.S. Justice Department that found widespread racially biased abuses in the city's police department and municipal court.

Wednesday's demonstration had been tense but peaceful throughout the night. Several dozen people attended, and at one point demonstrators hung a flag with the words "Racism Lives Here" over a silhouette of the St. Louis skyline and drew chalk outlines in the parking lot of the department.

Later, some two dozen officers clad in riot gear faced off against the demonstrators, who had relocated to the street. At least two people were taken into custody.

Mike Brown 'Hands Up' Case - Lies, Bad Reporting

After the media histrionics and charade we now know - from multiple mainstream media source, the FBI, forensic evidence, and numerous accounts that:

"Hand up" was a complete lie.

Not wanting to dig up this old case as for the case itself, but for the sake of:

Bad / false, and/or dishonest media reporting, the media playing the race card once again, fueled in large part IMO because of the "white vs black" "black vs white" controversy that pushes up the ratings.

    The Washington Post:

‘Hands up, don’t shoot’ was built on a lie
?Hands up, don?t shoot? was built on a lie - The Washington Post

    The smoking gun:

MARCH 5, 2015 Perjuryfest '14: Michael Brown Probe Marred By Lying, Delusional
    "Witnesses"

In its report detailing why Officer Darren Wilson will not face federal civil rights charges for the killing of Michael Brown, the Department of Justice recounts an investigation that was marred by lying witnesses, none of whom apparently will face charges for their perjurious conduct.

The parallel state and federal investigations into the August 2014 death of the 18-year-old Brown became Perjuryfest ’14, a free-for-all of fabricated claims, exaggerated accounts, and delusional tales.

According to the DoJ report, federal investigators dismissed versions of the Brown-Wilson confrontation provided by 24 separate witnesses,
who are identified in the document by a witness number and their respective ages, sex, and race. However, despite that limited information, some of the discredited witnesses are easy to identify.

The testimony from these witnesses was alternately branded inconsistent, not credible, unreliable, incoherent, and based on rumor and hearsay.

Federal agents declared that “material portions” of Brown sidekick Dorian Johnson’s account were found to “lack credibility.” Two women who gave a series of media interviews about the shooting--Piaget Crenshaw and Tiffany Mitchell--were deemed unreliable by federal officials. The 19-year-old Crenshaw’s account was “riddled with inconsistencies” and certain details she provided “lack credibility,” according to the report. A construction worker who was laying pipe with a coworker near the shooting site was branded “not credible.” The other worker refused to meet with federal investigators.

Of the 24 individuals, several admitted lying during law enforcement interviews,
with one teenager saying that he just “wanted to be a part of it.” After recanting her fabricated tale, a 23-year-old woman admitted that she “wanted to be involved from the outset” and be “part of something.”

Five of the witnesses are convicted felons, with two having convictions for “crimes of dishonesty.” “Witness 137,” a 40-year-old convicted murderer, claimed that Wilson stood over Brown and “finished him off” with a shot to the head, “execution” style. The felon also claimed to have heard Brown tell Wilson, “Don’t shoot.” The man, who eventually recanted most of his claims, “was untruthful to the FBI during his initial interview,” noted federal investigators.

Two other witnesses--whose respective accounts were previously picked apart by TSG--were also dismissed as unreliable by Justice Department officials.

“Witness 126,” a 53-year-old woman, was “admittedly untruthful to the FBI, suffered from memory loss” and gave federal agents an account that lacked credibility. The woman, who has “several felony arrests and a misdemeanor conviction,” is referred to as “Witness 41” in the grand jury transcripts previously released by state prosecutors.

The most bizarre claim by “Witness 126” came after she finished her grand jury testimony. The woman told a prosecutor that she had recorded Brown’s shooting on her phone. Then she claimed to have dropped the phone in the toilet. As noted in the DoJ report, “When the state prosecutor told her that forensic experts may still be able to recover the data, Witness 126 stated that she got mad and threw the phone in the junk yard.”

Witness Sandra McElroy, identified in the federal report as “Witness 140,” was branded “not reliable” since “large parts of her narrative have been admittedly fabricated from media accounts, and her bias in favor of Wilson is readily apparent.” As TSG reported in December, McElroy--known as “Witness 40” in the state transcripts--is a troubled, bipolar woman with two felony convictions and a history of making racist remarks. McElroy is pictured below.

Remarkably, the cavalcade of lies continued up until days ago, nearly seven months after Brown’s killing. “Witness 148,” a 26-year-old woman, met with federal investigators in late-February and gave a vivid description of watching the deadly confrontation. Brown, she said, “looked scared and it’s not like he’s a giant or anything.” She “described Wilson as ‘possessed’ based on the ‘look in his eyes,’ as though ‘he wasn’t human,’” according to the federal report. The cop, “Witness 148” added, shot Brown while the teen was “surrendering.”

When asked why she had not come forward sooner, “Witness 148” said that she feared the Ferguson Police Department. The woman, a convicted felon who participated in protests over the teenager’s killing, claimed to have recently met with Brown’s mother. “Witness 148 explained that as a mother herself, she wanted to share with Brown’s mother what happened to Brown,” according to the DoJ report.

Like so many before her, “Witness 148” was dismissed as “inherently unreliable” by federal investigators.

Who Are the Oath Keepers and Why Are They in Ferguson With an Infowars.com Reporter?

A group of heavily armed citizens calling themselves the Oath Keepers arrived in the middle of a crowd of protesters and riot police in Ferguson, Missouri, on Monday night. Reuters describes them as "an association of current and former U.S. soldiers and police who aim to protect the U.S. Constitution," and their presence drew the ire of locals and law enforcement as they strolled the lines carrying M4 semi-automatic rifles.

That “open carry” appearance seemed to add more tension and confusion to the riot-torn city. The Oath Keepers told reporters they were on the streets to protect several reporters who were from Infowars.com, a conservative media outlet that often trades in conspiracy theories. Joe Biggs, one of the Infowars.com reporters, spoke to Newsweek about the armed escorts accompanying him to the protests early Tuesday.

Biggs, a retired Army staff sergeant, says he and the Oath Keepers met up because the men weren't able to protect businesses, as they had done during the riots in Ferguson last fall. The Oath Keepers hoped to stand guard over buildings in the path of protests but hadn't received written permission from the owners yet, Biggs says, adding that he texted the Oath Keepers and they met up.

    Not according to this:

The officers followed Menezes to a bus-stop for the number 2 bus on Tulse Hill where several plainclothes police officers boarded. Menezes briefly got off the bus at Brixton Station. Seeing a notice that the station was closed due to a security alert because of the previous day's attempted bombings, he made a telephone call and reboarded the bus towards Stockwell.
Unaware the station was closed, the surveillance officers said they believed that Menezes's behaviour suggested that he might have been one of the previous day's failed bomb suspects. Officers claimed that Mr de Menezes' entirely innocent behaviour appeared 'suspicious'.[8] They later stated that they were satisfied that they had the correct man, noting that he "had Mongolian eyes".[9] At some point during this journey towards Stockwell Tube station, 3.3 kilometres (2.1 mi) away, the pursuing officers contacted Gold Command, and reported that Menezes potentially matched the description of two of the previous day's suspects, including Osman Hussain.[10] Based on this information, Gold Command authorised "code red" tactics, and ordered the surveillance officers to prevent Menezes from boarding a train. According to a "senior police source at Scotland Yard", Police Commander Cressida Dick told the surveillance team that the man was to be "detained as soon as possible", before entering the station.[11] Gold Command then transferred control of the operation to Specialist Firearms Command (known as 'CO19' or 'SO19'), which dispatched firearms officers to Stockwell Tube Station.

    Stockwell tube station entrance

Menezes entered the Tube station at about 10:00am, stopping to pick up a free newspaper. He used his Oyster card to pay the fare, walked through the barriers, and descended the escalator slowly. He then ran across the platform to board the newly arrived train. Menezes boarded the train and found one of the first available seats.

    Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Jean_Charles_de_Menezes

The only running he did was from the adjacent platform to catch the train.
