e-mail notification of new posts in subscribed threads

Anyone else notice that e-mail notifications of new posts in subscribed threads has become quite delayed. I just now received notification of a new post in a thread that I had already read before we went out to dinner, a couple of hours ago.

This is the firs day that I've noticed this.

I don't want to block it, I want it to arrive on a more timely basis. Maybe it's my mail server holding things up....

There seems to be a delay of about two hours between the time something is posted and the time I receive the e-mail notification.

Then look at the email headers to find out the time for each part in the delivery chain.

Interesting, it's now back to almost instant. The headers showed no more than a few seconds delay between your post and my receipt of the e-mail notification.

Well next time it happens you can expand the email headers ('Show full headers' or similar in most email proggies) and you'll be able to see where it gets delayed. Looks like this:

    Return-Path: <[email protected]>
    Received: from server10.ipslink.com (server10.ipslink.com [67.15.107.15])
    by mailhost.bostream.com (8.12.4/8.12.1) with ESMTP id k2E7dNjw013686
    for <[email protected]>; Tue, 14 Mar 2006 08:39:24 +0100 (MET)
Received: from nobody by server10.ipslink.com with local (Exim 4.52)
    id 1FJ47b-0002XC-67
    for [email protected]; Tue, 14 Mar 2006 02:39:11 -0500

The post in question is time stamped:

The e-mail notification to me is time stamped:

Which is when it showed up in my inbox.

And, here is the raw source of the message:

[email protected] is obviously the original sender ( a mail bot ) and is responsible for the delay..
The others in the chain has passed it on immediately.

So, do I understand correctly that [email protected] is the mail bot which distributes e-mail notifications for Teak Door?

If that's the case, I wonder why I'm the only one noticing a significant delay?

You're probably the only one who uses the notification thingy, and yes, it is/was the TD server causing the delays.

    Don't know..
But a guess is that not so many members are using e-mail notifications for new posts in thread.
