extending the reds/greens list beyond 5

dd -- is it possible and would you consider extending the reds/greens list beyond the current 5? expanding the list to 10 or even more would be good for those of us that dont remember to look or forget who has been good/bad to me. thanks for considering my excellent suggestion.

2) used snooker table, not pool.

I have to admit I was just going to ignore this thread in the hope that it sunk into oblivion, ok it is an easy change to change the rep thing to whatever amount, that isn't a problem, the problem is that it adds more work for the cpu of the server, at this time it don't really matter as we don't really move the cpu off of 5%, BUT, everyday we get about 40 new members, the guests go up by say 15 percent per month, I am wild guessing on that one so don't hold me to it, so everyday we make bigger and bigger demands on the server, I think last month we done 120gbs in traffic, now today it don't matter, but in 6 months or a year or whenever we may have to look into stuff to cut back on server intensive stuff and this would be one of the first things, it is easier to give and have a 1 page thread about it than taking it away and having a 200 page thread of whinging.

^ Can't you delete the hundreds of "members who don't participate" regulary. If I go on to members lists there are so many without posts.

Many prefer to observe. Take a look a the number login compared to the number posting.

We could do but that is hardly a query that is used on the database a lot, most forums have about 10 percent of their members that actually post, we are lucky in that we have about 20 percent of members that post because they believe that we will actually burn down their houses and rape their wives if they don't, not that we would mind you, but we do have a lot of Welsh members and you know what they can be like, basically reading tv they just recommend deleting pictures from your gallery when it is full up, we aint gonna go that route, taking a thread out of the blue, Bua Dhais world travels, we gonna ask him to delete his pictures so he can upload more? NOPE. Got to admit I don't even no if they are hosted on td but you get my idea, pictures take precedent over poxy rep

Perfect sense to me. Members with 0 posts can't see all the forums nor can they PM but you know this already. Don't fall asleep on your keyboard. Can leave little letters and numbers embossed on your face.

The most important thing to my mind is the server has to stay fast, each query slows it down that little bit more, td is really heaviliy laden with pics and vids, ie big stuff that slows it down, we get 1,000 peopler looking at there rep in an hour that slows down the stuff for normal people that don't give a fok about their rep

Actually the arguments of the extra queries is not a valid one, it's like saying can't create more than 10 threads a day, because there will be more queries !!!

nonsense, adding 5 more reps, is actually in the same query (looked at the source code), the result is 5 more rows, not 5 more queries, the query is the same !!! and in terms of CPU utilization 5 rows or 10 rows when the database is localhost (same server) doesn't add any CPU time, not even 1ms delayed reponse time !!!

so the answer is no slow down, or CPU hog for going to 10 reps or even 20 reps,

check the source code, it's all there

so what's your excuses this time DD ?
