    Self closing Threads?

I've been noticing recently that some threads cause my IE to crash after they've been opened. Not crash exactly, but they close/terminate the browser window.

Usually the thread loads up as per usual to a certain point but then I see something like: "javascript: close" and the browser simply closes. Right now it's happening every time I open the "The Teak Door Annual Get-together" thread. Any ideas on what's causing this?

You have your browser set to open media applications automatically, so you are trying to open a load of dirty sex vids at the same time, which I suppose is only to be expected from someone whose wife has just had twins

Ahhh, I actually thought that might be the case. I neglected to mention that it usually happens in threads with vids and the like. Cheers.

Was wondering the same thing on the TD reunion party thread. Shut me down every time. Seems the naughty vids were posted by some unscrupulous character.

Go into "tools" and find options, uncheck the box to open multimedia applications automatically.

Yes, and whilst I appreciate gratuitous porn as much as the next man* I've reported him the the Thai Morality Police.

I have gone into 'tools', found 'options', but I do not seem to have the option of 'opening multimedia applications automatically', not even in the advanced section. Therefore, it is dificult to turn off. Could you nurse-maid me through this delicate set up please?

We were discussing this on another thread recently. All those embedded video threads crashed every time on my main laptop, so I tried my second laptop and no problems.

I was using the same browser (Firefox) same, version and double checked that the settings were the same in each one. I never have found the reason, and simply switched to my second laptop for TD.

The problem on mine seems to be intermittent as well.
Very practical for you to switch to the notebook. Reminds me of the old joke "Doc, when I raise my arm up like this, I have a lot of pain so what should I do". Doc, "Don't raise your arm up like that".

Tools, internet options, advanced, scroll down and you will find multi media options, uncheck a few of those boxes.

For firefox I will have a look in a minute as my son is using the windows machine at the moment.

No, still the same. Thanks anyway, I don't need to see the movies to have fun here. Maybe I will try to update to version 7 and get back to you.
    Cheers,

Dirty Dog, the new upgrade to explorer 7 did the trick. Thanks very much for all your help. I now have a lot of catching up to do. Cheers,
