    Too much rubbish these days.

Perhaps it's just me, but I'm seeing a drop off in the percentage of quality on this board. We've been getting a higher new thread frequency recently, but as a result, seem to be getting swamped with obvious trolls even if they are sometimes consigned to Moronic Kiddies.

By quality I mean the construction threads, gardening, the pictorial travel threads (thanks Wayne Kerr, Sledge et al.), the multimedia and a few others.

I realise that I can put some sections on ignore, but that's not the point. The general ambience of the board is being dragged down.

Maybe it's time to dropkick a few idiots, no-banning policy not withstanding.

That is the downside to TD's open policy I'm afraid. Maybe DD should limit CMN, KW, NickA, MtD & terry57 to 20 posts a day.

Then they might post something worthwhile once in a while.

TD goes through stages depending on the moon some times everyone plays nice and other times they attacking each other. Also with all the new members there are a lot more push and shove but it will settle down soon enough

That reply in itself is a bit of a Troll. CMN, KW and NickA are reasonable posters. I've been following CMNs new house in the sticks thread.

Perhaps a change in the software can allow the quality threads to remain on top and the garbage to sink.

I do hate that term "troll". Anything could be construed as trolling if you were really that anal. I prefer to call it humour. It might be crap humour, but humour nonetheless.

Just filter The Lounge, Issues, News, Games, Newbies & MKP from your New Posts search and you should be ok.

It's quite exciting, that one. When do you reckon the house will be ready? 2245?

Humourous as was my reply, perhaps we're both being anal.

Or I could filter out the entire forum. The point I'm trying to make is that, I don't know if there's a reasonable way to encourage quality but it would be nice to at least try.

I am not for banning, but I wish there was a flag policy. If enough of the members flagged a post or a topic or a thread, it could be sent to a trash bin and veiwed there!!!!!

Begbie, I hope my posts and threads are not included when you talk about rubbish.

When I said 'you', it was meant 'anyone', not specifically you. Maybe I should've said 'one'?

We need a trash flag. Seems like a very good idea.

There's this "Mark Forum Read" button that I have started to use since a couple of month back..
Very useful when you're checking unread threads and find that there are 96 new in the last 3 hours. Zap. Now I'm updated again

not in favour of the idea, easily abused.

or even if 10 posters hate one thread (eg I refused to even look at TGS post your shit thread, but it seemed to garner many a reply and view, therefore somebody else must have liked it![/quote]

on second thoughts we could all get the bladdy rugby cup thread trashed so none of us have to be reminded anymore......

Get rid of posters that have a number at the end of their name.
    eg. yaya21, terry57 etc.

No, as this has a setting where the post or thread is voted off by public opinion. It has to be 2 thirds of the average registered vistors / posters in that day to get something bumped to the bin. Or if the program has a setting, say 20 or 30 or 40 (whatver the webmaster sets it at) flags to get something bumped. A poster can only flag once.

Public opinion rules. Modrators are not blamed for geting rid of rubbish.

Exactomundo. Hence, different areas of the forum are moderated differently.

Issues and anything in light blue is fairly heavily moderated.

The interesting stuff at the top of the forum is moderately moderated.

The idiot rooms 'Banal banter' is only moderated in the hour or so that the hair of the dog kicks in.

the gardening thread bores me to tedium, I've got some chap I pay to pull weeds and the like. And I started a construction thread and was redded and had it 'voted' against for my troubles.

So who is to judge what is 'quality' and what isn't?
