would upgrading forum software to vbull 3.8 be a major deal?

Would the galery work better?

With 3.8 we could have the Tapatalk plugin which would lend easier acccess for all the handheld device users.

The Gallery is completely independent from VB.

But what about doing the upgrade to 3.8? Seems like a good way to go. I use another motorcycling forum which made the upgrade a year or so ago and seems like a good improvement.
I was reading how vbull management went through some upheaval and the original designers jumped ship leaving the development of 4.0 kinda screwed. But 3.8 is apparently pretty good.

Could you post some screen shots of how forums look when using Tapatalk Mr Earl?

I've thought about buying it but I'm wondering how much difference it makes.

The look is plain. What makes it good is that it speeds up the forum navigation. Keeps attachments/pics/avatars small with minimal bandwidth use. Navigation from subforum to subforum is really quick compared to using the browser.

Teakdoor uses vbull 3.5 which doesn't support the tapa plugin, which is why I was asking about 3.8 which does.

There always seems to be a giant tumbleweed floating by, when questions are asked about forum software, advertising, TD politics

It's like there is no spokesperson for Teakdoor, or the top mod doesn't wanna interrupt the organ grinder, in case he's busy getting noshed off by one of the main advertisers hostesses.

Just sayin like

Well with all the big money advertizing coming you'd think they want to update the software to something more useable for mobile users.
Especially considering the huge increase of mobile devices being used now.

I can see how DD was preoccupied like with dying. But now whoever is running the show should think on some of the current issues regarding this software and mobile compatibility which is addressed in the more recent versions of V-bulletin.

So what about a 3.8 upgrade? Is it that complicated? I know of a number of other forums using the mobile apps. What's keeping TD from evolving into the next generation of mobile applications?
It certainly would be a value add for the current owners.
