Why are England so shit ????

What a shit weekend for English sport

I stayed up until 2pm Friday night to watch us draw with a country that has a populous of 258

Saturday got even worse, knocked out by the first sign of competition, in the shambles that is the World Cup of rugby and a French team that have looked equally as poor

I'm dreading the Olympics next year

I have really enjoyed watching the Welsh though and finally understand what a Gary owen is, even though I learned from the Iris

Anyone who says the EPL is poorer for the likes of Johnny Foreigner can go suck an egg

    Roll on next weekend...........

They've lost their heart. I watched the rugby with 4 french birds and an American who supported France. What a let down.

I suffered through the 80 minutes sitting next to a Frenchman! They wanted to win it, we thought we would win it basically. Crap

Learning Ireland lost to bloody Wales after beating Australia for Chrissakes, my mood was somewhat lightened by England's defeat. It was scarcely surprising though given their lumpen manager and a team without discipline more interested in getting pissed and shagging around.

The Olympics are a bore only enlivened by watching the track and field events in which one appreciates just how superior their blacks are to ours.

One eyed shooting from the prone position with a finger up the bum and the ladies curling may salvage some imagined nationalist self esteem if that is what you are after. The gay cycling in circles is of course not a sport in any true sense and is only of interest to the French and other irrelevant countries.

128000 Englishmen play rugby 27000 NZers 20000 micks and leeks, 30 Samo's (in 12 different countries.)

Not how many but coaching and belief in a holy cause. Its a game but a game that tactics that are like chess, on a battlefield devoid of trenches.

60+ guys tried everything in their power last night some will revel in the glory, others will grimace remembering in 20 years time. Tactics lost Ireland and England their respective games in the first 10mins. Their coaches gambled on doing things different. The teams that stuck to the tried and tested method for them, won.

Then What do I know! I struggled to make the 4ths

    ITS FULL OF ENGLISH

    Dam it

    Didn't mean to say that

thought I was just thinking it LOL

Stuck in the past? I think English just assume they should be the best by default. Like Canadians in Hockey. The reality is that almost all the super stars are European. The Canadians make up the defense men, fighters, and bit players. Coaching still stress the NHL of 20 years ago.

Bit like teaching Steam engineering at Engineering school as the best way to drive vehicles along rail lines?

Why would you do that, FP??? I would have spanked the yank as a matter of principle...

I don't agree. England tried hard, but were beaten by a better group of players. I don't know why the football watchers bother watching rugby and making dumb comments... the pub I watched the match in was full of wankers in the Arsenal shirts, clearly knowing fuk all about rugby...

We don't have some right to win... Our 2003 team was a magnificent team. The current team tried hard and played quite well yesterday, but they are an average group of players, maybe the 5th or 6th best team in the tournament and they did as well as they could - beaten by a better team. Simple as that. The English players wanted it, tried very hard - to a man. They let nobody down, just like the Scots in the last game - they played their hearts out, but just were not good enough...

Another Irish [at][at][at][at]... Whilst I am happy to be competitive against bordering nations, I am also happy to see Scotland, Wales and the French progress when they play well - good luck to them. But, whilst I've met many many decent Irish folk from both sides of the border, many insecure twats like you also exist. Better you focus on your own game and get your own house in order, wanker...

It has surprised me why most English supporters are surprised by the French result as England have been shit ever since Johnson left the team and took them over as coach.

He may have been a great captain and leader but a coach he is not.

They needed a leader on the field yesterday and they didn't have one, panicked and lost a game they should of won easy.

I agree, but these folk are non rugby supporters, just football supporters turning their average minds to rugby whilst the WC is on...

Why should we have won it? The French are better players than us with a pedigree of beating us and everyone else, time after time... We could've won it if we played at our best and the French mentally folded, but they didn't - the French held their nerve and the replacement halfbacks did a brilliant job in the last 20 minutes with some fantastic kicks and tactical rugby. The French won the game, England didn't lose it...

I wonder if we were watching the same game?

England were all over the Frogs in the first 10 minutes and instead of rucking/ rolling maul in set pieces they panicked and pushed the pass losing possession.

Then some stupid penalties took away their ascendancy and game over at half time.

This years season is decided today and even if we do,nt have an Englishman win the title , it wont be for lack of trying ,, poor ol Shane Byrne nearly poleaxed himself qualifying yesterday , it didnt stop him racing in agony though , unlike those overpaid poofters chasin around after a ball , and bettin on whose gonna get sent off , or even refusing to play when on a quater of a million each week

    It's an 80 minute game.

    France had 52% possession.
    France had 57% territory.
France were in the England 22 for 12:47' (England were in the French 22 for 8:09')
    Tackles made/missed were exactly equal.
    Turnovers won was exactly equal.
    England made more handling errors.

France gave away twice as many penalties as England.

When you play at international level you have to give everything you've got, but many of the players in England's teams don;t seem to realise that.

I think with regard to football, the players view their club games as more important and in most respects, they are. The EPL is the at pinnacle of football along with the Spanish and Italian leagues. The EPL is where the money is and there's a lot more at stake than in an international game.

Of course, with the rugby, half the team are bloody foreigners. Fuck them off first and get players who will run their hearts out for their country, not a bunch of mercenaries.

At least the cricket boys haven't fucked things up yet...
You cannae live wiv 'em and ye cannae fucking shoot 'em

I was watching and comparing little Shane Willams against our big Samoan centre (over the two matches) - Shane really is different class, under the high ball, positionally, when he hits a gap, etc. We don't need to bring in these big lumps, homegrown talent, if the talent is there, is perfect, as the Welsh and Irish teams (for the most part) are showing...

I am referring to the first half whereupon England were in my opinion clearly the best side and then they gave away 5 silly penalties in a row that put them on the back foot.

The French gave away second half penalties when the game was already lost for England but those 5 stupid consecutive penalties in the first half killed the game for the Poms.

I don't agree. We gave away penalties under pressure (for example, our SA prop on the wrong side when we had a good American prop on the bench who doesn't give away penalties...), like the French did in the second half...

Where we did fuk up was by letting the French into the game in the first place - that started at 2 minutes when we lost a lineout on their line and they cleared it and started attacking. After the first 15 minutes the French mindset was right, our mistakes helped their cause... Once the French were in the game, we were always gonna be fuked; we needed to put pressure on them, so that their fragile minds folded, but we weren't good enough.

For the last 20 minutes, the French played well; good decision making and territory control.

Ifs and buts galore, but basically England were not a good enough team. We would have lost to SA today whereas you didn't. You're currently a better team than us, as the French are. Simple as...

If you want to see the effort required turn on the TV as of now and watch the Argies playing against probably the best team in the world. You just don't see this conviction from any England team.
The Argies will get hammered but they are giving their best shot!
