Well, I just looked at the calendar and it's 8 days to January 1. The posters over on TV are increasingly frantic or pompously self-satisfied (depending on their visa status) and Thai Immigration Officers are no doubt asking themselve 'Araiwah?' and trying to remember if they are supposed to count days or stamps, except, of course, those IO's who didn't pay attention in school, who are probably wondering what all of the fuss is about because they didn't read the memo on the new regulations and were busy SMSing or playing games on their phones during the long, boring staff meeting where the new regulations were explained by a senior officer who didn't really think them through.![]()
So, what do you think is going to happen in January? Will there be a wailing and a gnashing of teeth at the border as hordes of hapless English Teachers and punters (not mutually exclusive groups) get turned away? Or will this all be a tempest in a tea pot? And if people are turned away and denied sequential tourist visas, will this be a permanant change? Or will they realize that they've made a big mistake and forget about the new rules in a month or two?
