    Police roadside checks...

Do you need to tell them where you are going and why you are travelling alone?

    Nosey gits...

    Told them 'bai teeow'.

You were alone and they did not try and extort money from you for some unseen violation?

You must look like a Thai

Last time I was pulled over on a regional highway he had the block set up and was ready to pull me over from a few hundred metres a way. I wasn't wearing a seat belt so he got me for that and he put the lunch money in his top pocket. No ticket. No questions.

On the honda on a major Chiang Mai city road about a week ago got pulled over and RBT'd after dinner - blew 0.023. Phew. Cars were getting through but they were stopping and searching all bikes, under the seats and bags, more than I ever seen in this city. I got let go with a smile and thanks for my time and no fine for not wearing a helmet. Was asked a lot of questions, can i speak Thai, where do stay, where was I, Thai tested by english speaking cop, etc. Nosy fukers. At least I wasn't getting the treatment the Thais were getting (body cavity searched).

I've never been asked where I'm going.

Good rule as you are approaching these road blocks is to not make eye contact. Just keep rolling thru the stop and only stop if the cop puts up his hand. And then, and only then, roll down your window.

Better yet, have the strongest reflective tint so they can not see inside. Illegal in the States, but works well for me in Thailand.

^^the cop had his hand up - didn't look like I could weave past him.

Off for a bike ride... I'll see if they are in the same place.

A copper stepped out in the road to try and stop somebody a few years ago, his headstone is beside the road on the A259 in Shoreham Sussex, hope they have learned a lesson by his death, should try this in LOS

^ That was last weekend and they probably would have concluded another suicide case if it had happened anyway.

    Jungle Rules!

Just got stopped for a 200 bribe for no helmet. Daft going out with no helmet on but I was only heading the local 7 then got distracted.

They really cover their faces up don't they? - should secretly record him taking a bribe next time then bribe him back.

I think it was English, the modern version, but the punctuation may have led you to believe otherwise
