    Hobbies...

    I need some.

My first two weeks back from my last offshore trip have all been a blur of drinking, go-gos, bbqs, colouring in dinosaurs, drinking at the pool and lying in a hammock.

I went for a short ride on my mountain bike but had a couple of beers half way round the ride.

Tried to find somewhere where me and the missus could play badminton at mid-day before we pick the sprog up from school, but all the places were closed apart from Tonys which wanted about 500 baht for an hour. Too expensive seeing as I have implemented austerity measures in the household.

I am shite at golf - can't even hit the ball.

Got an electric guitar which I haven't touched for a few years after learning 3 chords. I could pick that up again and try to learn another chord.

So, what hobbies do you have that eat up your time?

Give the 1 hour free simulator a go

Should get you hitting the ball, then get down the driving range and smash some balls

Photography ----- Digital Imaging ---- Painting-----Oil--Watercolour---Pastels---Gardening---Growing a lot of our own veg . Like KT Cooking not just meals but an array of different cakes. Woodwork I love nothing more than building some old structure in the garden , or some flower / veg boxes etc . Golf got down to 14 when younger but would struggle for 28 now , but can pass many hours at it. Cycling its great to access many places much easier than in a car . Supporting motorbike racing .

Don,t really get much time left for drinking ,, anyway good luck with it mate

Have you tried table-tennis with the missus ? You can make a table yourself, then just buy the bats & ball. Or perhaps buy a couple of cheap badminton bats as Tescos, and string up a net somewhere. Jeez ! You don't have to pay to go somewhere else to play it !

If you get some Somchai to do it for minimum wage I could then watch it dry for you.

Good idea... Plenty of fishing parks near me that I need to check out before the old man arrives in a few months... ( will probably have a few beers when I'm fishing but drinking activities are still allowed)

Could do with more exercise... Bike ride once the sun goes down a bit.

Just remembered that the village play park has a badminton net set up so that also when the temperature allows.

Decorate your bike to make it look like a spaceship.
Collect jaunty hats and wear them all at once.
Use a different name each week and talk with a funny accent.
Walk backward on Sunday and Tuesday and sideways on Thursday.
    When you eat go 'yakyakyakyakyakyakyaka.
Speak English and develop Tourettes in Thai.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Kitesurfing... now that is something I'm interested in.
A friend does it and he said you can get set up with some decent kit for £1500 and that'll last you 3-4 years. Portable enough to carry on your back to the beach and take on the plane. He said some of the older kit would snap you in half but the newer stuff is much more user friendly.

Witnessed a kitesurfing event in Tarriffa, Spain a few years ago.. what a great crowd of people.

Yeah the newer kites are much safer as you can depower them almost 100% if you let go of the bar. 1500 quid is about right for a full set of gear, although you can pick decent stuff up second hand for less.
