Those were the days.

I used to live just down the road from here.
The land used to belong to Quakers and when they sold it there was a clause that no liquor license was to ever be issued. To this day there is no pub and no off license there.

Very nostalgic Koojo. A UK that exported hard working ambitious people to improve other countries instead of importing usless freeloading people to bleed the place dry.

Cops rode bikes and never needed guns. You could mail a letter and have it delivered the next day. The milk was delivered to your doorstep and you could still call a black person a Wog without being dragged in front of a race relations tribunal....
Probably the best education system in the world and the most powerful navy on the planet.

The beer was cheap and good, but the food was crap (British Rail tea and sandwiches were ledgendary)...so was the weather a lot of the time, but still a great place to be born and grow up....

Probably a feeling of failure and the need to try and make oneself feel (falsely) superior. You find it a lot with white middle aged Western men who have moved to Thailand and who have slowly come to the realization that they are completely obsolete, unimportant and have no real value here.
