I was at the Ban Rai coffee house in Ekkamai yesterday, which has some of the most obsequious, slow staff I have ever encountered, constantly trying to do everything for you, pouring your beer, changing your ash tray, and placing your cutlery on the table in that achingly slow and dainty way.
When the bill came it was about 460 baht, what I expected - anyway I screwed the notes into a ball and threw it in the face of the waiter - an action which didn't go down too well to say the least. He looked shocked and angry and said something in Thai and walked off as I picked up the money. Moments later he returned with some kind of superior who spoke better English and he stood there next to her sulking whilst she asked me if everything was okay.
I explained everything was fine and threw the money in the guys face again but this time all hell broke loose and even the superior woman asked me to leave. Some people have no sense of humour, I resally don't see the problem. I have thrown money in my own face and it's not like it hurts, it's paper for goodness sakes!
