Is this 'Pretty Woman' scenario really possible?
Read on to find out...
It's now officially just over ten years since my first naughty night out in Pattaya. Since there have been obvious memories of a few girls along the way, I would like to imagine many of those girls are now out of the 'game' altogether or have secured themselves and their futures thanks to some farang or other good fortune.
Facebook are a devious bunch of people. All my 'contacts' for the last eleven years of using the same hotmail address are automatically scanned to see if they are connected to any Facebook profiles. Hotmail saves all contacts whether you like it or not.
So one day I clicked 'people you may know' on facebook.
(All following names have been changed for obvious reasons)
One girl, 'Cee'.. whom I had a few liasons with in 2001 is now a cashier at a 7-11 in Buri Ram. A step up for a bargirl I know, but how did she decide that a paltry salary there would keep her in a lifestyle she used to be accustomed to? A Finnish man got her pregnant in 2005 and paid her 50,000 Euros, then f**ked off back to Finland. Hmm. Quite lucrative.
Another, 'Fern' .. whom I knew for a few months in 2002 now lives in Pavia, near Milan. She never really ever admitted to being an out and out 'working girl' but she met a man who lavished her with everything she wanted. 50 years her senior, the 'relationship' is ongoing, and if she plays her cards right, she may get left a few quid.
A quite lively girl called 'May' who I met at the traffic lights by the Central Festival Center in Pattaya (we were both on motorcycles beside eachother) told me that her father had just died back home in Chumpon, and her brother was involved in a car crash a few days before. I knew her in 2003, and her father had just passed away from cancer then, so I have little other details on her current situation.
A nice little success story was what a girl called 'Kattoon' told me. Back in 2001 I regularly met her after work when she was a 'waitress' at the restaurant that was next to the lobby at Sarasinee mansion, in Soi Intamara, Bangkok. I liked her enough to turn a blind eye to the days when she was 'washing her hair'. She had been saving a year already to go to college. And she did. In 2008 she landed her dream job as an airline hostess. I had a lump in my throat when she told me that.
I really liked her.
