When you consider that 2 are for a minority sport that only meatheaded Americans play and one is an internal tax question that also doesn't affect the vast majority of people in the world, I'd say they're pretty crap questions.

How would you fare on more relevant questions pertaining to supposedly being a citizen of the world?


1. What cities are Disneyland in?

2. How many metres away should a wall be from a free-kick?

3. Who won the 2010 World Cup?

4. What countries does the East African Rift Valley pass through?

5. Which state in Germany does BMW come from?

6. When does the Thai tax year start?

4/6 on the American one. 0/6 on MtD's.

Marmite, my point in the questions was that the video asked international questions that Americans are not fed like everyone else in the EU. When you structure questions that are not talked about in ones country like what kind of money do you find in England, there are going to be a lot of Americans that don't have the cash to travel and will not know the answer. The American public is fairly isolated and is not in close proximity to your part of the world which is the reason for my questions. Of course you don't know all the answers since you are not American. Does that mean you are stupid?

Not knowing which team won last year's Superbowl does not make one stupid. It can be argued that watching, following or caring about professional sports shows a propensity towards stupidity.

1. Anahiem, CA (Los Angeles is wrong) (disneyworld is in Orlando, FL, but the question was where is Disneyland? Flawed question because it implies Disneyland is located in different cities, there's only one Disneyland, Paris and Hong Kong don't count IMHO)

Mr Earl and Bob R, the questions were to make the point that answers to various questions will depend on where you live in the world and what you are fed in the local media, not whether you are stupid or not. This thread originally showed Americans trying to answer international questions such as what is the money named in England. The majority of Europeans would probably know the answer since they live close to England and many have even vacationed there. Americans typically do not travel to Europe unless they have the time and money to do so. These types of questions do not measure if one is stupid or not, only how much information you retain from elementary school geography. Most Europeans can not answer all the questions I listed, so does that make them "stupid?"

I agree, many people know very little about their own countries. Does it make them stupid... Debatable. Maybe these are things that simply did not interest those individuals therefore they never wanted to know. However maybe this same person invented something we use everyday. You never know.

I know many Ph'd's that barely know anything about say a car but can figure out the most complex problem that is WAY WAY beyond me.

I think what we all question is how some people can come across so ignorant. They can make you scratch your head. They open their mouths and remove all doubt.

This thread has taken on about 3 different tangents. Been an interesting read.
