    scary movies...not

what is it with thai girls and stupid scary movies that are anything but?

at the moment the missus is watching some move (well we are supposed to be watching it - but i'm bored stiff)

it consists of some green slime that is leaping around and killing peolpe or maybe its some unseen vomiting green slime monster - havent worked out which yet....

people running around aimlessly, screaming and blood, havent that ever heard of Alfred Hitchkock ? I showed her the Excorcist recently, she wasnt all that impressed, perhaps it a cultural understanding of the concept of the devil....?

My husband's Thai ex-wife would choose a horror movie over any genre. My step-daughter (half-Thai) agrees with me -- silly, stupid, boring.

We CANNOT have a family gathering (birthdays, etc.) and agree on a movie.

I don't get it either - my GF loves these and thinks they're really scary. But they aren't at all. The ghosts just stand around looking unwell. Show me Alien any day.

Years ago the Chinese horror movies were all the rage and had Thais cowering in fear at night.
Basically the 'Pii' or ghost would be a human form that was plastered with white powder and with arms outstretched, would two-leggedly hop everywhere chasing people. They always reminded me of sleep-walking rabbits. Not scary one little bit.

I'm don't believe in and am not scared of ghosts, but sudden loud noises make me jump and that what most of the films seem to rely on for their 'fright' factor....It's in no way enjoyable, jumping at a sudden loud noise, it's bloody annoying.

i had bought a scream costume (for a Halloween party) said missus was watching a movie - so i snuck into another room put on the cozzie and burst out of the door to give her a fright.....

didnt much work - since she can read my mind and knew exactly what I was up to ( and cos she saw me carry the costume into the room in the first place also )

but the maid was just walking out of her room to the kitchen just as I burst out of the room and she damn near wet herself with fright!

(i suppose I should be all contrite and that, but it was damn funny! )
