    Best job in the world?

    Painting nude Carnival models

Betto Almeida is the Mr Lucky of Rio's Carnival.

The 36-year-old artist awakes at 8 am. Has a little breakfast. Survives a commute through the city's tough traffic. Arrives at the office by 11.

Then he spends hours painting the bodies of gorgeous women - and earning as much as $US2,000 ($A3,076) a day.

"You wouldn't believe how many applications I get for an assistant," Almeida deadpanned, never taking his eyes from his work as he brushed bright orange paint on the stomach of a model in his glass-enclosed studio under the grandstands at the Sambadrome, where Rio's Carnival parades ended.

"But it's hard work, man. I take my job seriously."

I think I will be traveling there (Rio for Carnival) from March 4th, till March 14th 2011. That’s the plan anyway. I’ll try to post some pictures (of these painted bodies), if they are any good.

Enjoy. It's like this if you're in the Sambadrome.

Or join the throng on the Streets.

    ^thanks

There are no assigned seats in the stands, except in the pricey seating area. It might be tuff (crowd up against you all the time, while you’re trying to get some shots off) getting some good pictures depending on who is standing/sitting next to you, throughout the 4 different parades.

    From the travel agent:

How is that a good job?

I'd have a permanent erection, and probably be picked up by the police for molesting a client...

A kid in a candy shop who isn't allowed to touch the goodies, no thanks...

Consider the male body painting section then.

^ What do they paint there then? Elephant heads? Serpents?

I'll have to give it pass though...

^Because it would probably end up being a ladyboy carnival.

I did some of this with an airbrush back in the day. Painted a couple of nude lovelies before they went off and streaked through a bar.

To be honest, I've seen better body painting in a Gogo. But they use airbrushes.
