Cool Shark tagger? South Australia targets bored Brits

    Reuters Life
South Australia is using exotic jobs like koala catcher, shark tagger and even beer taster to try to lure young, bored British workers to head down under for some adventure and maybe a new life.

The South Australian government has launched a campaign to encourage 18 to 30-year-old Britons to come on a working-holiday visa with the chance of getting their dream role.

Other jobs advertised include a shark personality profiler at Port Lincoln, a Fairy Penguin home remodeller on Kangaroo Island, and a "roo poo" harvester.

"This isn't about one job that everyone has to compete for, but rather about showing people that South Australia offers more exciting work and travel options than anywhere else in the world," said South Australia's London-based agent general Bill Muirhead in a statement.

"This is the first time these jobs have collectively been released and with no previous experience necessary, we're offering people a genuine chance to get away from it all."

He said a study of 2000 Britons for the South Australian government found that 60 percent of British workers were bored with their jobs and almost three-quarters never leave their office during the day.

Working-holiday visas allow young Britons to travel and work in Australia for up to one year.
