SCB Credit Cards make me chuckle

I have a couple of Credit Cards with Siam Commercial bank and last week they sent me a gold card...

after a few days they sent the pin for activation so I called the hotline number and went through the normal verification process...

all was well until she asked for my passport number...I gave her the new number but their records still showed the old number...(changed my passport about 6 months ago)

chuckle # 1...she told me the number which they had on file and explained that it didn't match with the number I gave her....great security...

she asked me to fax her a copy of my new passport so they could update their records...

chuckle # 2...I hung up and called back five minutes later...talked to the same girl and went through the verification process again, this time using the number from the old passport...after two minutes she told me everything was completed and I could now use the new CC....

    don't you just love Thailand...

I was turned town by SCB for a credit card, the news was broken to me over the dinner table by a colleagues wife who was a member of staff at the branch where I applied.
She discussed the decision with everybody at the table before "informing" me. Much gossip followed and I was really annoyed, for once I even felt as though I had "lost face"
My balance at the time was in excess of a million baht and salary income at that time was 60,000 baht per month.

    This is for you SCB

Did she have *any* rational reason as to why, then? Do you have a bad debt history here or something... a crappy visa?

    ^^ no reason offered.

No reason requested, shortly afterwards I realised that i could use my ATM card to swipe in Big C etc and that was the function I was really after anyway.

Our English MD was knocked back when he applied for a cc, but one of our teachers who had declared bankrupcy in Britain, got one the same day from the same bank.

I got knocked back because they didn't believe I lived at the address stated. Been there 6 years and the bank knew it - cos I bank with them.

They said they couldn't use that as proof because, although my name in English was written correctly, in Thai they had copied 'British Citizen' from my passport as my surname. Useless fuggers.

I just walked out laughing! I only applied for the card cos the girl pushing it was a stunner and they were going to give me a nice travel case.

BTW it took over 3 months for them to correct my name - although on the internet banking it still shows me as Mr British Citizen.

First year is free. No strings attached I can see. I am gonna get one as my Amex is turned down about 20 percent of the time.
