This is Fish Tin Road around 80KM inland by 4WD road from Mae Moei National Park in Mae Sot. It leads to a small village which would be about as far from civilisation as you can get in this country.
It got the name because when the locals were contracted to hack the road from the hillside they did not even know what money was or have a use for it as at that time they only had walking tracks through the forest to nearby villages so they were paid for their work with tins of fish.

Like many Mughal-style buildings in Malaysia its architecture was designed by AB Hubback. It was completed in 1917, after works were halted during World War One. It incorporates the Mughal style of architecture, just like its counterpart across the road, the Old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. The building suffered bombing in its North Wing during the Second World War, and in 1968, the second floor was gutted by fire. In 1983, the building was gazetted as a heritage site.

Ever since I went to the ruins in Champasack Loas and heard the meaning behind the name of the mountain the temple was built on I see things in architecture just a little bit differently.
