The GF and I are set to wed in March but I have a question with regards to applying for a marriage certificate at the Brit embassy.

I divorced my ex-wife in the UK in December 2004, but all my letters from the lawyers are at my parents home in the loft and unreachable for them to send to me.

When applying can i get away with saying that i'm single? Are they likely to check that I was married before.

And what is the procedure as for as the embassy is concerned?
