Cadbury's, now American, not to worry.

Cadbury's has been bought by kraft, well all but.

The workers were and are a tad worried about thier jobs,
Hey not to worry superman, captain Gord has told them, i've ad a wurd an ya jobs are safe.

Now this must be comforting, remember when rover was being taken over and gord said, i've ad a wurd an ya jobs are safe, because captain gord intrviened. he is looking after them on £66 per week

Along with gord avin' a wurd about the corus workers, don't worry lads i'm on yer side an i'll make sure you r jobs won't go, still never mind they're on £66 per week.

Thank god for Gord, comforting he runs the country, so on that note i reckon the cadbury lads and lasses must feel all warm and fuzzy, lucky buggers eh !

I'm just so surprised there was anything left to buy...I thought every company worth having had been bought already.

I had an alert come through just after the announcement,

Buy Reckits as it is believed, the cadbury money will be invested there.

We have got a couple of footy teams, but then again the premiership is £31billion in debt, now thats a fooking lot of dosh, still i suspect Gord will bail them out.

They'll probably close down Bournville, and Cadburys chocolate will become a few dedicated production lines in some Kraft factories spread around the globe. This does not augur well for the future of Cadbury's dark chocolate, for my money far superior to some of these expensive continental concoctions like Toblerone & Rocher. Sigh.

Me old Grandad worked at Cadburys Bournville for 23 years. Before that he worked at 'the Austin' in Longbridge. Thats the way it was back then- if you lived in that part of Birmingham, there is a good chance you worked in one or the other. Longbridge was once the biggest manufacturing plant in the whole world- now it employs around 200 people, is Chinese owned, and makes MG TF's. To the locals, it was and will always be 'the Austin'- but in it's latter days, it made Rover cars. Before going bankrupt that is- it's mostly being redeveloped now for housing, once a massive factory. British industrial history is downright depressing, especially if you are a Brummie- 'The city of a Thousand Trades'. Thats where it all started you know, the industrial revolution. Manchester done the fabrics, Brum the rest. Bugger all left now.

Back to Bournville, as a retiree Grandad (and therefore Me) were allowed access to the Cadbury's staff shop- wonderful stuff, and dirt cheap as you could buy 'seconds' there. This was during the 80's. Bournville is more than a chocolate factory- it is also a 'model village', one of the first. The Cadbury family were and are Quakers- and they believed in treating their employees well. Fortunately, Kraft won't be able to tear that down and erect high density housing, as the place is preserved and administered by an independent trust-

Bournville - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In a later life, I met Adrian Cadbury- the Chairman of Cadbury Schweppes for many years. His estate was next to my wealthiest clients estate- heck, they had an idyllic, private valley in the Cotswolds between them- but Cadbury's was bigger, of course. A very nice, classic English gentleman- Eton and all that, rowed for England too. He wasn't exactly what you'd call short of a Quid then. He sure isn't now.

Ahh, enough of this nostalgia. Off down the shop for a 45 bht Leo.

Probably. Over-processed, bland crap that Kraft specialises in.

Dame Elizabeth Cadbury was a magistrate and deported a small boy to OZ for steeling a 2d old pennies bar of chocolate , he was to small to go alone and so she said his parents will have to go as well. Or so the story in Brum goes .

Doubt Cadbury chocolate will change at all. Kraft owns about 60 well known brands few except Kraft Cheese have anything to do with cheese. Kraft has avoided changing ingredients/recipes in the brands they have have acquired. The impact to Cadbury will most likely be in the area of production facilities. In spite of Brown's assurances, expect there will be job losses in UK.

Figured you'd say that Marmite but your brothers from down under won't agree.

Better check out Kraft brands before you make blandest crap on the market assessment. You might be surprised. One of your favs may be owned by Kraft.

I used to work on-site at Bournville, not in production but IT support which was housed in a seperate facility. We had access to the "seconds" and everything that coke-cadbury-schweppes produced. All heavily discounted.

The best part was, on a cloudy day, or under certain atmospheric conditions, the smell of chocolate would engulf the area.....wonderful it was.

WILL CHOCOLATE BUTTONS TASTE LIKE SHIT? ASKS BRITAIN 19-01-10

FEARS were growing today that chocolate buttons are inevitably going to end up tasting like shit.

The Kraft cheese single: America in a bap

People across the UK have begun hoarding their favourite sweets after Mr and Mrs Cadbury, the owners of Cadbury's Lovely Olde Chocolatey Shoppe, were bought out by Kraft, the US-based fabricated cheese and industrial bleaching conglomerate.

Emma Bradford, a buttoneer from Stevenage, said: "I had some American chocolate once. It had a strange, gritty texture and a smell that reminded me very strongly of the time Bilbo, my dear old King Charles spaniel, shat all over my bed.

"If these ghastly Americans are going to start adding dog faeces to the chocolate button recipe then I'm probably going to stop buying them."

Martin Bishop, confectionery analyst at Donnelly-McPartlin, said: "The key thing to remember about American food is that it's not food. Much of it is made from oil-based plastics, volcanic sand and the run-off from copper mines.

"It will be interesting to see what happens when these elements are combined with a glass and a half of full cream milk."

Nutritionist Joanna Kramer said: "Kraft have a proud record of creating entirely new substances from a range of natural ingredients such as Welshman's foot sweat, monkey bum-grease and pheno-glyceryl tribenzoate.

"This then goes into a hot oven for 20 minutes and out pops something that they have the sheer brass nuts to attach the word 'cheese' to."

She added: "Take, for instance, the Kraft cheese single. Over the years it has been used to tile abattoirs and add a playful dash of colour to greyish-brown discs of highly-processed cat gristle.

"And if you place one on a slice of bread and put it under the grill, it develops this delightful skin, accompanied by lots of little beige blisters.

"I imagine it's what toasted cheese would look like if it had bubonic plague."

Utter Philistine. You know nothing about chocolate, whatsoever.
Yes, I've had this Dove. Emulsified milk powder with a smidge of cocoa and third party grease doth not a chocolate make.

From ignorance however, wisdom can be derived. Cadbury's Dark, you are on the path to extinction.

Ah yes... brown bags of "chocolate waste" from Cadbury's that my neighbour used to bring home in the good old days!
Bournville is indeed a lovely place, however the ordinary employees of Cadbury's can no longer afford to buy a house there.
