Ever notice how despite all these murder/suicide/accidents (with sketchy details) that our emabssies remain rather silent publicly?
Perhaps it's time to turn up the heat? Why don't we INSIST that the Pattaya Daily and Phuket whatever and the various other farang-reliant publications make a point of getting a reaction from the Embassies/Consulates on the 'sketchy' issues?
I know they'll say 'oh, it's a private affair with the family and we can't discuss' but we all know that's bull shit. Their job is to keep it quiet so as not to fcuk up relations with host country. The consular secretary is the hardest worked, but the weakest first-or-second secretary in the place.
So if the newspapers would follow up some of this stuff - like what happened with the cop who killed the canadian in Pai, or what about the rape/murder in Chiang Mai, or this or that..Get them on the record. If they pull the family privacy bull shit - ask the family what they think of THEIR embassy. It's great stuff - and would force their hands a bit more..
