Farangs Dead Everywhere - Embassies Silent

Ever notice how despite all these murder/suicide/accidents (with sketchy details) that our emabssies remain rather silent publicly?

Perhaps it's time to turn up the heat? Why don't we INSIST that the Pattaya Daily and Phuket whatever and the various other farang-reliant publications make a point of getting a reaction from the Embassies/Consulates on the 'sketchy' issues?

I know they'll say 'oh, it's a private affair with the family and we can't discuss' but we all know that's bull shit. Their job is to keep it quiet so as not to fcuk up relations with host country. The consular secretary is the hardest worked, but the weakest first-or-second secretary in the place.

So if the newspapers would follow up some of this stuff - like what happened with the cop who killed the canadian in Pai, or what about the rape/murder in Chiang Mai, or this or that..Get them on the record. If they pull the family privacy bull shit - ask the family what they think of THEIR embassy. It's great stuff - and would force their hands a bit more..
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

I believe he was told off and moved to another province, that certainly taught him that crime doesn't pay, wonder if he's been promoted yet.....

But what are they supposed to do?

    Issue a "travel advisory?"

They could publicly state they are deeply suspicious of the outcome, ask police to do more, or even more benignly - ask for others to come forward to 'help police' but they rarely do any of this -unless instructed by their governments to intervene publicly (usually for political reasons - like they hate the country to begin with).

So we say - 'hey you're my f+cking embassy - SPEAK UP!' (e.g. If someone is killed in Venezuela the US Embassy might make a fuss - if it happened in Colombia - silencio.)

    Fair points, Tom Sawyer.

My cousin, at the age of 26, was scheduled to fly back to Seattle from Bangkok. He was found on the day of his flight in his hotel room, dead.

No money was found on him. But we know that he had $900 USD.

We'll never know if the hotel employee found him deceased, and then took the money, or if he was doped and robbed, or if he accidentally ODed, or if he killed himself.

The autopsy didn't reveal much. He had some barbituate traces in him.

    But we'll never know.

But he (rest his soul) lived fast. We just don't know what happened, and we never will.

Sorry about your loss. Makes the point - and whilst I know this is a commercial Website where we don;t want to scare off tourists, I can only wonder why it was moved to this 'TeakDoor Lounge Forum' from the news forum, where it was clearly posted in response to the many dead-farang posts.

    As you'll note above
"The TeakDoor Lounge This is the place for fun, a laugh and a joke and a bit of light hearted banter, come in and pull up a stool, Tell us what your day was like. Doesn't matter where in the world you are, we all have good and bad days."

    Ill-judged in my view..

Guess all you patters bar owners are pretty confident you won't be next? No Essex or Geordie family members asking the local consul/embassy for info and action about why the GF was doing laundry at 2am when you were falling off the balcony, why there is a new will and why her cousin Pol Col Priyonsai Singhmachangpriporn is inheriting your Thai assets?

Oops..orphans - of course - or single-parent (mother unknown). Sorrry. No one will ask..

This should really be in mkp. I think dd is in generous mood for some reason?

The job of embassies is to look after the interests of their nationals, and to foster good relations with the host country. They are not a news media agency for the benefit of the idle and curious.

In most cases the relatives of individuals who are dealt with by embassies would prefer that they remain anonymous.

Where relatives require information from the embassy concerned, they rely on the diplomatic skills and good relations fostered by the embassy, to get the information they need.

Why should they divulge information of a private nature to some nosy chav?

They always get there slower when DD himself has taken the topic off track with his piscine penis fetishes.

Always fun to read from those too stupid and ignorant to realise that countries and cultures differ.

Fok off home mate, you'll obviously be happier.

    But it is.
Warnings about King Power was issued by your Foreing Ministry aswell as I remember it.
    Didn't come from Reuters

They certainly should inform potential tourists to this country about difficulties they could meet here

The British foregn and commonwealth office produce regularly updated information on their website.

It really is very easy for anyone with a brain cell to check and find relevant information before they travel.

Anyone who is too stupid to check before they leave can always rely on the support of their emabssy.

These people account for the majority the workload at the embassy.

If you want up to date information on what is going on in a country, you can always read the daily mail in uk, or watch fox spews in america.
