Time for another photo competition?

I was thinking it could be time for another photo competition, but there aint no festivals coming up in Thailand that I can think of, or not any interesting ones anyway, so what to use as a theme?

Now if anybody has any better ideas feel free to post them here but I was thinking a good theme would be Asian women, whether it be a bikini clad sex machine from your local gogo bar or your mother in law who looks like she auditioned for planet of the apes.

Obviously nr jet and pb etc can have their own mens underpants thread or whatever, but apart from them women everybody else is quite interested in women, oops forgot butterfly, he can start a French thread or something.

Would be nice timing to announce a theme now.

This time I could possibly participate with asian photos. We are almost on our way for an eight week holiday in the Philippines.

That is if I can get good internet access. I have been told I can get wireless access quite easily.

How about something with children if no better idea comes up?

Asian women? I assume photos will be what's judged, not the hotness of the tottie?

^I feel sure the voting will be totally unbiased and based on the quality of the photograph and the skills of the photographer, although I should say that I have this slight feeling the winning picture will contain most likely a mid 20's girl in a bikini in or on a beach and probably a bit wet, just a feeling mind, it could be someones mother inlaw who looks like a planet of the apes reject that wins.

How about you post a picture and then write a short story about the theme of the picture , how and why you took it and as there are many members not in Asia everyone can contribute equally and on an even playing field.

Quality of picture and quality of the story behind the picture. you could possible rate the picture a 5 out of 10 and the story an 8 out of 10.

Just an idea and I will post an example picture in a few minutes.

Now this picture I took 2 days ago when we were walking to the open markets in Sector 1 of Saigon.

You can see the back of probably my best Asian friend, a Malaysian Chinese who is supporting me in Vietnam and in the foreground a little Vietnamese girl that had followed us begging for money for about 10 minutes.

On the right you will see another young Vietnamese girl who was pleading for money and on left a man pushing a wheel chair with a young crippled boy in it.

One thing I didn't notice when I took this spur of the moment picture was the absolute desperation in these poor folks eyes.

I tend to ignore street beggers and after living in Thailand for so long but I obviously have never stopped to imagine their horrible plight.

The eyes are the window of your soul and these poor souls eyes look empty to me!

Never heard the saying "a picture paints a 1,000 words" quirell?

Whats wrong with adding your words and thoughts behind your entry.

Just an idea anyway and I probably won't enter as I don't take good pictures or maybe now I will enter something as I would have 2 bites of the cherry and can compete with the Bobcocks and Bustaks of this forum.

Well its gunna be a 2 or 3 horse race again but if thats the case I am sure I will enjoy the contest anyway Maddy.

As mentioned I rarely contribute anything worthwhile but always vote and love some of the photos the experts put out.
