Was in ASDA today.
Saw a coin counting machine and wondered what the catch was.
7.9 pence per pound.
7.9% of your money taken for using the machine.

Per pound money or per pound weight? Ooops, stupid me - they're all kilos & grammes in UK, now aren't they?
Doesn't surprise me. Counting the pennies out of that big Bell's bottle wastes so much TV watching time. You might miss a crucial moment on Jeremy Kyle or Celebrity Big Brother...
Having said that, Thai banks wouldn't even take bags of small change. We had to exchange them in 7-11 when we had donation boxes and got loads of small coins.
^Never had a problem with Thai banks taking large amounts of change, so long as you hold an account with the bank there should be no problem at all.
Do you think business owners change their money at 7/11?
Tops in Robinsons have a big sign up at the checkout " we change coins for notes here ! "
Did them with 250baht of 1 baht coins the other day - no problem !
Always end up with shit loads of THB$1 coins during stay. Try and use them up in laundry runs.
What ever is a THB$1 coin? Is it the same as a B1 coin?
No idea. I do know that more than one business used to phone us to come in & empty our collection boxes when they were short of small change & the banks couldn't provide them with any.Originally Posted by English Noodles
