Emporium: Selling Rotten australian Meat ?

I am quite tired of shopping at Emporium, or Food Land or some other "premium" supermarket and buying some nice Australian steak at 1800 THB/kg to find out when I come home that it's actually rotten meat. WTF ??? are these people stupid ???

This happened to me quite a few time already, throwing 500THB worth of steak almost once a week, as they don't seem to hold more than 1 day or a few hours apparently. Before it was Thai French which went through a phase of price hike and lower quality, and now it's Australian !!! And before that it was Argentina beef in Food Land !!!

maybe sign of import problems or other financial stress for those Premium Supermarkets ?

But I buy all of my meat from SFS in BKK and I can take steaks out of the freezer and leave in the meat tray in the fridge for 2 weeks and not a problem with them, as that meat is processed and frozen the day it dies in NZ. and I get it wholesale.

My wife buys Thai beef steaks from Foodland in Pattaya and to be honest it has been superb of late.

Yesterday she thought I might like an imported T'Bone steak and it was as tough as an old shoe at about twice the KG price.

I hope that Foodland Pattaya keep up the good local beef quality.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of beef at Foodland Pattaya, maybe a good week ?

I might need to order from Timba wholesaler instead !!! maybe a few KG to put in the freezer

It does change the cell structure, whether it tenderizes or not I do not know, but I do not use frozen pork for curing, I do use it for sausage making, and I always freeze fish before brining as it does take the brine better, but here I do not need to worry about it as all the salmon I get are frozen and are good for nothing else but smoking.
