Last Tuesday evening, Satit, a guy who works in the same office as my wife, arrived home from work in his village just outside Buriram. As he drove through the village he saw his wife and 2 year old son at the shop. They waved and followed him towards their house on their motorcycle.

When he got to the house, Satit got out of the car and opened the gate for his wife to drive in. As he turned to her, she was struck by lightning!

Both lay with eyes open but not breathing, his wife’s shirt was shredded and both her legs below the knee were green, but there was no other visible damage.

He managed to revive the 2 year old, slapping him until he cried; but he could get no response from his wife. He rushed them both to the hospital in Buriram where further attempts to revive her were to no avail.

After a night in hospital, thankfully his son was playing happily with no ill effects.

I attended day one of the funeral but could not face the burning on the last day, just too sad altogether.
