Thai girls tell lies. But are they thieves too?

When i first came to the country and hooked up with a bar girl, i was always very careful about leaving cash, cards and mobiles etc, lying around in case stuff got nicked.
I'm not sue about BKK but in the provinces i need not have worried. As i became more relaxed about it, (sometimes as relaxed as a newt), i realised that not one of my many guests had succumbed to temptation.
So, is there a moral dilemma here between the compulsion to lie, and the lack of a theft gene?
Or maybe i just got lucky?

They're probably going to try and steal all your cash, all your cards and all you own. Not the stuff in your room.

If they nick stuff from you - not likely to use them again, and they will end up in jail once you report their arses.

I have only heard of one (short time bar girl) room robbery and it wasn't a real robbery.

My mate from NZ was particularly careful about stashing his money so he hid it in the bathroom amenities packaging (shower cap soap etc).

In the morning the girl got up, he paid her for services rendered and she left and he went back to sleep.

When he woke up he noticed all the bathroom shit was missing and he immediately wanted too call the police. I suggested we go back to the bar, speak to the mamasan and question the girl.

The girl was there at the bar, we asked her where was the money and she said what money. My mate said in the soap box and she said all customers let her take the soap and shampoo bottles but she had not seen any money.

We went back to her room and sure enough the money was still in the unopened packaging. The bar girl didn't even know it was there, we went back to the bar and my mate took the same girl again.

Other then that never had a problem but then again I didn't tempt fate and leave things laying around.

There is no complusion to lie. Thais are just reluctant to spread the truth around for a variety of reasons. Like when they call you handsome and you're an unkempt fat bastard. That kind of thing.

I know loads of people who have been robbed.
Mostly in affluent areas; and quite often the help is suspected..

The selling of any commodity requires mostly the truth with a touch of colourful bullshit to enhance the sale! Is this touch lying or good sales technique.

We are talking about bar girls are we not....??????????

First time I've ever been irritated at you, Chassamui.

What a load of bollocks. Firstly, not all Thai girls are BGs. Secondly, (as you found) not all BGs are thieves. You're as likely to get your wallet knicked by a Brit backpacker on an overnight bus or an Israeli scuba diver on a boat. Take excellent care of your belongings wherever you are because anyone might steal them. Equally, you might leave your phone in a bar and a BG or LB chase you down the road to give it back. People are individuals. Treat them as such.

Where do you get off sometimes Tuddy..........????????

Why would I post something that is not true! I would not waste my nor other member's time!

You have had your experiences and I have had mine and for that matter don't think for one minute that I post things just to upset you and or your apparent mindset against Thailand.

My friend was robbed recently by some tourists his visiting mates had befriended.

Thats the only time I have heard it happening to anyone I know.

My house was burgled by unknown Thais (yes, I know they were Thais, they were seen running away)

In UK, I had all my washing nicked off the line once & would never have realised, but they missed one pillowcase.

Apologies for generalising about Thai girls and lies. (and for irritating NR).
The statement was based on personal experience, the perceived wisdom of carefully selected opinions and views of those on here, and other sites, and the abundant anecdotal evidence in fact based literature. It refers of course to bar girls and others of similar persuasion.

I have never been ripped off here. I had my Trans Am stolen in Chitown.

I had a Thai guy chase me down on my first trip to return my passport that fell on the ground when I paid for my meal.

I also had a Thai lady return a $900 camera that I left on a table at a food court.

I have had the laundry lady return my wallet with cash and credit cards still in it after I forgot to take it out of my pocket.

    Crap I am really careless!!!

My first Thai girl stole my heart. But I got it back with only superficial damage.

I also thought she had stolen the motercy when I woke up and it was gone but she had only gone to the market to buy breakfast.

A former Thai girlfriend was an adept thief. She would steal enough out of a wallet, or paycheck, for it to go almost un-noticed. It was only after setting a few traps that I found out what she was up to.

She was so good that I was convinced that she must have had a police record. A very slick, smooth operator she was. When challenged, she could lie her way out of it. Made me think I was going daft for a while.

never stolen a dime from me
i have been bringing them home in "thousands", in herds, like waves of migration,

    but they have been honest.
I only pick girls 18/20 and fairly new to the game so maybe im just lucky, allthough no rule whitout exeptions......
But i think in the ways of not been corrupted and new in the games...bla bla bla
When im pointing fingers i usually end up having to blame myself and my modeswings,
    not the girls
they have been good to me

the girls in the real estate buisness though, that another ball game.
    Lyeing and cheathing
