    Bad news if you're Norwegian

New Norway law bans buying of sex

Norway says the new law targets the clients and not the prostitutes

A new law has come into force in Norway making the purchase of sex illegal.

Norwegian citizens caught paying for prostitutes at home or abroad could face a hefty fine or a six-month prison sentence, authorities say.

The prison sentence could be extended to three years in cases of child prostitution.

The Norwegian authorities say they want to stamp out sex tourism and street prostitution by targeting clients rather than prostitutes.
"We think buying sex is unacceptable because it favours human trafficking and forced prostitution," deputy Justice Minister Astri Aas-Hansen was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

I see this as the NATION-STATE exerting more and more control of people.

    Usurping rights.

Why - Do you think that every Norwegian who comes to Thailand comes to pay for sex? Maybe that's the main reason you first came to Thailand, no need to judge others by your own low standards.

So restricting the rights of consenting adults to indulge in sexual activities is not of concern to you?

Only the Norwegians, and only those who can't get sex without paying for it should be concerned at all?

I wonder if Justice Minister Astri Aas-Hansen is willing to pay rewards, could be a few bar owners wanting to increase their income potential

quite right Noodles, we all know you have never paid for sex, or are ever likely to; well done, we need good chaps likee you to show us how to behave properly and what our morals should be

as for judging others by their own low standards, I couldn't agree more. Nothing is worse than doing that; by god, the assumption that someone else could be as bad as someone like him, it hardly bears thinking about

anyway Noodles, it was nice to bump into you the other night; I thought that the katoey you had kneeling before you was a nice person and had very good manners; she did not spit it out on the floor like some lowlifes do.
    I have reported your post

I'm sure you are capable of making your own descisions on what they should be, though if you do need someone to look up to then I'm happy for you to choose me as your role model.

How many people have you heard of being arrested in Thailand for using the services of a sex worker above the legal age of sexual consent?

    They are working on it.
Can't find the other thread with the proposed Brit laws, which are very similar.

Not quite the point - someone could video you paying a bar fine here and this 'evidence' could then be used in a prosecution back in Norway (or UK if they adopt the same law - as is likely). Not so good.

As I don't pay bar fines and I don't use the services of prostitutes I find that difficult to believe.

If it is no concern to you, then why post in the thread..?

Your posts in this thread are just smug declarations that 'you don't have to use the services of prostitutes'. Thats really nice to know obviously, but you have no other opinions of a rather sweeping law, that may end up law in your country if it gets successfully pushed through there in Norway?
