Some advice for a friend (Thai GF and Visit to UK)

I have a question for my friend who lives in the UK

He recently joined a dating site TLL and has been in contact with a Thai lady from Ubon Thani. Apparently they seem to be getting along and have been exchanging texts and been in regular contact over the last few weeks. However she is now wanting to travel to the UK to see him. I have told him to be careful but it's not really my business. She apparently has a passport, her husband died recently, but she has been asking for bank statements from my friend, and photos of his house.

My friends position is as follows. He is unemployed as he now looks after his 2 young children, as likewise his partner passed away just over a year ago. He is 36 years old and is on benefits for caring for his children, and dissability benefits for a hearing problem.

My question is this. Assuming the Thai lady has a passport of some sort, and assuming their relationship is going to blossom into something wonderful, what is required, if possible to enable his Thai GF to travel to the UK.

I think she will have to get a tourist visa, they do not have a relationship.

Probably little chance of getting a tourist visa, as he`s on benefits. Check embassy web site for more info.

Unless he can provide evidence of a substantial amount of funds available to provide for her while shes there and she can provide a valid reason to return to Thailand when the visa expires I would think twice about applying.
If hes simply on benefits with little or no other form of income I personally wouldnt bother. It sounds like theyve only had contact for a few weeks as well which would be hard to prove some form of relationship or lengthy contact.

Totally agreed. And the reason for this post is for him to see. He has known this woman only a short time. I gave him my opinion, and I though i would do him a favour either way by posting here. I tried telling him to take his time, i was scammed the first time and he saw it. Problem is folks think it will never happen to them.

I agree with everything said here, i need him to see for himself what he might be getting into. Personally asking for his bank details is just checking his status out in my opinion.

I wouldnt have thought so either. Ive also heard of people in this situation who have never met going to the lengths of paying someone to "Photoshop" them a relationship.
