    Fish Bowl

    I am in Dublin Ireland.

Everything I have is ????? invested in Thailand!

5 Mill. Baht house in the sticks, 3 rai of land elswhere etc. etc.

From what I see on BBC news 24, Sky , and other media here, it does not look good at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! between the uprising as the outsiders see it, and no proper leadership, the country is not the place to GO, I.E. advice from Embassies and travel agents here.

Myself, from putting 2+2 together, This forum and the (European media) and 13 years "service" in LOS, I am reading that pattaya is closed until 6pm, Roadblocks on Sukhamvit etc.
I have also noticed that from Japan to Malaysia the stocks and shares have gone down 25%, But never a mention of Thailand. WhY?

Even from my point of view it does not look good at all, never mind tourists or investment managers.

If I hear of a Farang being Killed in the "CURRENT" uprising I'm out of there, remember people at a "Loss" anywhere in the world will strike out at people , that they believe are more affluent or more prestgious than "Them".

I hope you can read between the lines.

    Best of luck.

(sorry for spelling) I am supposed to retire in LOS shortly. ??????????????

Don't believe that rubbish. Thailand is chock full of lovely beaches, wonderful temples and unique and healthy cuisine.

Thai people are friendly and generous and honest. Enjoy your vacation.

    Amazing Thailand.

Life goes on mate. Away from one small area of bangkok there is no effect what so ever. Same as when the coup went on - life went on without a noticible change (apart from the odd tank on the street).

For the nightlife well, my own personal theory (so others may disagree) is that over the comming years it will be increasingly under pressure. My personal view (steps on soap box) is that Thaland as a society is not that against prostitution - it is dead set however against VISIBLE prostitution, and the farang scene is just too visible and high profile. It will come under more pressure, but again, honestly - life goes on.

markets and land I will leave to others, but only to note that in the big scheme of things - land and houses do not get up and walk away.

I was expecting different content from a title like that . . .

I'm sure all will settle down in a while, but Thailand IS a 'developing' country with massively undereducated people . . . and it is easy to stoke the fires of xenophobia in such a place.
Foreigners are the easiest people to blame for anything . . . see the attitude towards Burmese by many Thais.

Persecution follows simple incitement, jealousy rears its ugly head (Oh, look at the foreigners, they have so much and we have so little etc) . . . though I don't think that would happen in Thailand.
